BOOK EXCERPT:

Written exclusively from broadcasters perspective, Mobile Broadcasting with WiMAX will help you move ahead in the use of WiMAX technologies. Whether you are an engineer, content provider, manager, or operator and planning such services, this book helps you understand the dimensions of this new medium and integration of communication, broadcasting and Multimedia technologies. The book oulines migrating to a new generation of broadcasting which integrates the Mobile, Wireless and Fixed network domains, then gives you a complete picture on what is happening in the field. The book is divided into five parts as follows: PART I Gives an introduction to Broadband Wireless Technologies and Mobile WiMAX. Wi-Fi including 802.11a,b,n and g, WiMAX technologies with focus on Mobile WiMAX 802.16e, and provides a global overview of deployment of Wireless broadband networks. PART-II is about Mobile Multimedia broadcasting and Mobile TV technologies, based on both cellular and broadband wireless. PART III covers Resources for Mobile multimedia broadcasting and comprises of four structured chapters on Spectrum for WiMAX networks, WiMAX terrestrial broadcasting networks, client devices for WiMAX and an update of on chipsets developments. Part IV is devoted to the Network Architectures and the integration of WiMAX with other networks, both fixed and mobile. Part V deals with Software architectures and Applications which help the process of mobile multimedia broadcasting. Case studies of prominent networks are given with country specific examples.

Investigation Of Millimetre Wave Generation By Stimulated Brillouin Scattering For Radio Over Fibre Applications

eBook Download

BOOK EXCERPT:

Doctoral Thesis / Dissertation from the year 2008 in the subject Engineering - Communication Technology, Dublin Institute of Technology, 252 entries in the bibliography, language: English, abstract: The rising demand for greater bandwidth and increased flexibility in modern telecommunication systems has lead to increased research activities in the field of Millimetre Wave-Photonics. The combination of an optical access network and the radio propagation of high data-rate signals provides a solution to meet these demands. Such structures are also known as Radio Over Fibre systems. They implement the optical Millimetre Wave generation in a central station and the transmission of radio waves via a remote antenna unit to the radio cell. The expected data rate is very high, due to the fact that both the optical and the radio-link provide a large transmission bandwidth. This dissertation concerns the investigation of a new and simple method for the flexible generation of Millimetre Waves for application in Radio Over Fibre systems. The method is based on the heterodyne detection of two optical waves in a photo detector. By externally amplitude modulating the optical wave, different sidebands are generated. Two of these sidebands are selected and amplified by the non-linear effect of stimulated Brillouin scattering. As a gain medium, a standard single mode fibre is used. According to the theoretical investigation, very good carrier performances are possible with this method, and a computer simulation shows little degradation to the signals during their propagation in the system. The measured results are in strong agreement with the theoretical analysis. Experimental results show that the system can be fully utilised as a Radio Over Fibre system. The thesis is divided into five main parts: Introduction - Theory - Simulation - Experiment - Conclusion. In the Introduction, an overview of the current methods of Millimetre Wave generation, Radio Over Fibre and the nonlinear ef

Wi Max Technology A Survey

eBook Download

BOOK EXCERPT:

Document from the year 2014 in the subject Engineering - Communication Technology, , language: English, abstract: Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Access (WiMAX) is a wireless communications technology. As the global economy continues to expand, so does the demand for information. This information needs to be plentiful, diversified, instant, sprinkled and mobile, all at the same time. These mounting demands have proven difficult for existing network capacity, coverage and range also. And this reduces an organizations ability to evolve with changing business and workforce needs. Wireless networks are best suited to meet these challenges because they are resilient, scalable, mobile and cost-effective. It facilitates the network with high-speed, high quality data, voice and video communication, even when users are on the move. The rapid growth of WIFI in the home, enterprise and public hotspot market has given users and service providers alike a new glimpse into what wireless connectivity can deliver, through a single interface, in multiple locations. WIFI realizes the vision of broadband connectivity within the LAN (Local Area Network) and has easy way for new wireless technologies that can deliver the same experience in the MAN (Metropolitan Area Network) and in the WAN (Wide Area Network).
