Captain Thomas Graves (ca. 1580-1635?) was born in England. He sailed to Virginia in 1608. His wife, Katherine, and two sons immigrated to Virginia later. Traces the line of descent from Thomas to the author's grandmother, Cassie Addie Graves (1874-1960), who was born in Henry Co., Kentucky. Cassie was the daughter of James William Graves and Margaret Sageser. Cassie married James Samuel Downey in 1896 in Missouri. Includes their descendants and other related families of Cassie's.

Pariss (Parish) Sims was born near Belfast, Ulster, Northern Ireland ca. 1740 and came to America with his brothers, Abraham and Robert ca. 1765. They settled in Pennsylvania and Pariss later moved near Salem, North Carolina. He married Keziah Royster of Granville County, North Carolina in 1782. They eventually settled in the Lynn Creek area of Tennessee. Descendants lived in Tennessee, Illinois, Alabama, Mississippi, South Carolina, Texas, and elsewhere.

Abraham Rush (b. ca. 1770 -d. ca. 1841), the son of Abraham, a German immigrant to South Carolina in ca. 1770, married in ca. 1790 a woman named Jane (b. ca. 1780 -d. ca. 1853). Descendants and relatives lived in Arkansas, South Carolina, Georgia, Tennessee, Washington and elsewhere.

Isaac Sharp came from Germany to America in 1738.

Theophilus Simonton was born in about 1685 in North Ireland. He married Mary Smith. They emigrated in about 1725 and settled in Lewes, Delaware. They had six children. Theophilus died in 1754 in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. Descendants and relatives lived in Delaware, Ohio, North Carolina, Georgia, Nebraska, Texas and elsewhere.

Franz Joseph Moarschel (Moerschell) (1815-1894) immigrated to America from Germany in 1867 with his wife Maria Anna (Blochinger) and four sons. They settled in Missouri, where many descendants still reside.
