My Life by Me and My Poetry In-Between By: Marty Slain (Mykos) My life’s had a lot of laughter and love But also tears of frustration and sorrow, A few regrets and way too many whys But I still look forward to my tomorrow In June 2015, at the age of 60, Marty Slain (Mykos) decided to start this book. Her life has been full of ups and downs, challenges faced and overcome, love lost and found, and friends and family encouraged her to share her story. In poetry and prose, Marty spins her unique tale and hopes to encourage others with her positive spirit. Part of a large family, Marty grew up surrounded by faith and love. At eighteen, she discovered she was pregnant and married the baby’s father. The young family tried to make it work. But when her husband became abusive, Marty left him. She was repeatedly unlucky in love, but found happiness in her three children and career in construction and restoration. She and her siblings supported each other through divorces and deaths. Marty had fun in the good times – plenty of dancing, rich friendships, and a wonderful man. When darkness came, however, she had to fight to keep the light in her life. Watching her children face their own struggles in relationships and parenting brought both joy and heartache. In the end, it’s been a wonderful journey of family and friends who have inspired and challenged her. Poems celebrate the love she has lived as well as soberly reflecting the dark times in her life. Sensitive and spirited, Marty’s words will comfort and encourage you. Laughter is important, family is everything, and faith will always bring you through.

Book Summary My book is based on my life Experience. The kind of loving people Ive been surrounding by through out all my struggles. The love I had for people that is very important in my life. Most of my poetry are basically about thing that I experienced in my life growing up and about the people that I was around that really didnt care about their own needs and they figure they didnt need school. My inspiration for my poems comes from everywherepeople, movies, my children, everyday life. My poems are mostly about love, life, destiny, fate, emotions and feelings. I feel that in our world we need to feel more and care more about what is happening around us. We just get so busy, we dont stop to smell the flowers or take much notice of anybody else. We are in such a rush to get from point A to point Z without ever thinking which way we have to go. I would like people to see that my book of poems is inspirationalto love more, care more, take the time to get to know someone for who and what they are, inspire yourself to inspire others, encourage people to love more, care more. Be all you can be, be more in the presents of LIFE. And finally, SMILE. Life is really worth LIVING. Give yourself the chance to breathe and shout out loud IM ALIVE and LOVING IT. Thank you. In this book I describe different events that I have occurred throughout my life by using poetry. My first love has always been writing songs and poetry. My songs and poems helped me express the way I am feeling without speaking a word. I wrote my first poem at nine years old in Cheraw, South Carolina after my grandmother passed away. I wrote a poem for her. I never imagine in a million years that I would have my poetry published. This shows that anything is possible if you believe in yourself and don’t let anyone discourage you. I am a mother of two boys. I am at the point of my life where I am trying to set good example for children. I hope this encourages them to reach their dreams. I am from West Palm Beach, Florida. I miss home a lot. I travel back and forward whenever I get time off from work. I hope that my poems can be inspirational to you. And I would like to thank God for not letting me give up and for the different talents he has blessed me with.
