BOOK EXCERPT:
It all started as a bit of lighthearted fun, mates on a bachelor party. That is until Alex and his friends came across a fortune teller spinning a tale. Alex would meet his future wife, who would be wearing a pearl necklace. Sure enough, two years later, they met at a wine bar, eventually getting married and having a child. Only for Alex to discover he had married the wrong woman. His wife had borrowed the necklace she wore that night, from her friend, who so happened to be at the bar that night. To make matters worse, Alex was only meant to have been in his wife’s life for a short period of time to reveal a dark and disturbing secret belonging to his now deceased father. By not disclosing his secret to his wife, Alex, unbeknownst to him, changed the future, denying his wife from meeting the man she was destined to marry, causing a devasting butterfly effect. It appears Alex cannot get anything right; he just happens to end up as the guy that everyone loves to hate. The more Alex tries to do the right thing, the worse it gets, not just for him but also for his wife. Alex is someone with little or no morals as we sit back and watch his life unravel into utter chaos, deceit, and untruths being spoken.

BOOK EXCERPT:
This book explores the relationship between authority and context and attempts to establish the ways in which authority is a function of a particular agent or set of agents, and the degree to which it is a product of a context rather than an agent. The work is not a sociological or psychological study but rather a literary/philosophical speculation into the roots of our conceptions of authority. It declares all authority to be aesthetic in nature and is based on an analysis of several key texts from various different cultural backgrounds: Foucault, Weber, Nietzsche, Confucius, and Homer.

BOOK EXCERPT:
“The Truth about Toxic Black Mold” is based upon my personal experiences after being exposed to this toxic substance for six months. As a consequence, I have been sick for the past two years! My primary goal in writing this book is to help the readers avoid the medical, physiological and financial problems my exposure to this toxic mold cause for me, my business and my wife of fifteen years Melanie. My secondary goal is to raise awareness and donations for the two charities’ I support. To that end 10% of the royalties I receive from the sale of all my books will be donated to the two charities’ I support. The Make-A-Wish Foundation and The Wounded Warrior Project. This is my personal story and a true account of my personal experiences with Toxic Mold and my advice on how to avoid the life changing effect on your life that I have to overcome. Although I am not “an expert” on Black Mold and its effects on your health I feel that due to my own problems I am a somewhat of an authority on the subject. For the benefit of the reader I embarked on a great deal of additional research on the subject in order to add professional medical and technical information to support my own advice. I will also share the sources of this valuable information for the benefit of the reader. BOOK EXCERPT:
Jane Austen – novelist, forthright letter writer, daughter and sister of Anglican clergy – had a rarely-matched insight into human character. Like Lent itself, she exposes frailty, caprice and pomposity without losing a profound and compassionate understanding of human nature. Her life was profoundly shaped by the church and Christian spirituality, making her writings an ideal accompaniment for the 40 days of Lent. Rachel Mann introduces Jane Austen, her world and her ideas, and, for each day of Lent, offers commentary on a short excerpt from her writing to explore how her faith can illuminate ours. She brings Jane's novels into conversation with biblical and spiritual ideas and also with today’s questions about class, sexuality and race. Themes explored include: The Triumph of Love, Learning Wisdom, Seeing Beyond the Surface to the Truth, Knowing Where Your Treasure Lies, The Temptation to be Prideful and Prejudiced, The Pomposity of Religion, Privilege and its Limitations, Duty and Good Manners, and much more.

BOOK EXCERPT:
In 1992, twenty-eight families came together in the pursuit of truth and justice. Eighteen years later, they moved a mountain. Setting the Truth Free captures, for the first time, the remarkable story of the Bloody Sunday families of Derry. The wounds of Bloody Sunday cut deep and have spanned generations; decades after the atrocity, a group of determined strangers - united in grief and anger - met and mobilised themselves to campaign for a new investigation into the killings and the exoneration of the victims. Establishing the Bloody Sunday Justice Campaign, they embarked upon one of the most remarkable human rights movements in history. To the end, it was a struggle - meeting with scorn and obstruction by fellow citizens, the Bloody Sunday families persevered. Writing to politicians, newspapers and anyone who would listen; fundraising, lobbying from Westminster to the White House and Capitol Hill and canvassing thousands door-to-door, their remarkable global campaign led to the establishment of the most complex and expensive Inquiry in British legal history. After twelve years, Lord Saville's report found that the British army's actions on Bloody Sunday were both 'unjustified' and 'unjustifiable' and made headline news all over the world. Now, forty years after that tragic day, and with the universal declarations of innocence still ringing in their ears, those most affected by Bloody Sunday have their say. This is the inspirational story of how a group of ordinary people stood up to the might of the establishment - and won.

'With A Delicate Truth, le Carré has in a sense come home. And it's a splendid homecoming . . . the novel is the most satisfying, subtle and compelling of his recent oeuvre' The Times A counter-terror operation, codenamed Wildlife, is being mounted in Britain's most precious colony, Gibraltar. Its purpose: to capture and abduct a high-value jihadist arms-buyer. So delicate is the operation that even the Minister's Private Secretary, Toby Bell, is not cleared for it. Suspecting a disastrous conspiracy, Toby attempts to forestall it, but is promptly posted overseas. Three years on, summoned by Sir Christopher Probyn, retired British diplomat, to his decaying Cornish manor house, and closely watched by Probyn's daughter Emily, Toby must choose between his conscience and his duty to the Service. If the only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing, how can he keep silent? __________________ 'No other writer has charted - pitilessly for politicians but thrillingly for readers - the public and secret histories of his times, from the Second World War to the 'War on Terror'' Guardian 'The master of the modern spy novel returns . . . BOOK EXCERPT:
Knowing God truly, experiencing Him deeply. What would it look like to genuinely love God with our head AND our heart? To have a faith marked by right thinking AND right feeling? To know God deeply AND worship him passionately? Too often, Christians act as though these things are at odds with one another. But what if God intends for us to possess a Christianity that is radically committed to biblical truth, in a way that did not diminish the life of the heart, but actually intensified it? Adam Ramsey invites us to engage both our minds and our emotions in our walk with God as we gaze at him until our hearts sing. He sums it up like this: "My hope in these following pages is to paint a biblical portrait of what God is actually like, so that we can gaze upon him together until our hearts can’t help but sing. To behold him in such a way that our daily experience is transformed with a deepened awareness of who it is we pray to, who it is that is with us, and who it is that we are loved by. To let God’s truth set our hearts on fire." If you yearn for God but desire a clearer biblical picture of this God whom you love, or if you have been walking with God for a while now, but your experience of him has become settled or dry, then this book is for you.
