Hopf algebras have important connections to quantum theory, Lie algebras, knot and braid theory, operator algebras and other areas of physics and mathematics. They have been intensely studied in the past; in particular, the solution of a number of conjectures of Kaplansky from the 1970s has led to progress on the classification of semisimple Hopf algebras and on the structure of pointed Hopf algebras. Among the topics covered are results toward the classification of finite-dimensional Hopf algebras (semisimple and non-semisimple), as well as what is known about the extension theory of Hopf algebras. Some papers consider Hopf versions of classical topics, such as the Brauer group, while others are closer to work in quantum groups. The book also explores the connections and applications of Hopf algebras to other fields.

This volume contains a collection of papers in control theory and applications presented at a conference in honor of Clyde Martin on the occasion of his 60th birthday, held in Lubbock, Texas, November 14-15, 2003.

This volume publishes key proceedings from the recent International Conference on Hopf Algebras held at DePaul University, Chicago, Illinois. With contributions from leading researchers in the field, this collection deals with current topics ranging from categories of infinitesimal Hopf modules and bimodules to the construction of a Hopf algebraic Morita invariant. It uses the newly introduced theory of bi-Frobenius algebras to investigate a notion of group-like algebras and summarizes results on the classification of Hopf algebras of dimension pq. It also explores pre-Lie, dendriform, and Nichols algebras and discusses support cones for infinitesimal group schemes.

The book contains seven refereed research papers on locally compact quantum groups and groupoids by leading experts in the respective fields. These contributions are based on talks presented on the occasion of the meeting between mathematicians and theoretical physicists held in Strasbourg from February 21 to February 23, 2002. Topics covered are: various constructions of locally compact quantum groups and their multiplicative unitaries; duality theory for locally compact quantum groups; combinatorial quantization of flat connections associated with SL(2,c); quantum groupoids, especially coming from Depth 2 Extensions of von Neumann algebras, C*-algebras and Rings. Many mathematical results are motivated by problems in theoretical physics. Historical remarks set the results presented in perspective. Directed at research mathematicians and theoretical physicists as well as graduate students, the volume will give an overview of a field of research in which great progress has been achieved in the last few years, with new ties to many other areas of mathematics and physics.

The present volume is a collection of seven papers that are either based on the talks presented at the workshop "Conformal field theories and tensor categories" held June 13 to June 17, 2011 at the Beijing International Center for Mathematical Research, Peking University, or are extensions of the material presented in the talks at the workshop. These papers present new developments beyond rational conformal field theories and modular tensor categories and new applications in mathematics and physics. The topics covered include tensor categories from representation categories of Hopf algebras, applications of conformal field theories and tensor categories to topological phases and gapped systems, logarithmic conformal field theories and the corresponding non-semisimple tensor categories, and new developments in the representation theory of vertex operator algebras. Some of the papers contain detailed introductory material that is helpful for graduate students and researchers looking for an introduction to these research directions. The papers also discuss exciting recent developments in the area of conformal field theories, tensor categories and their applications and will be extremely useful for researchers working in these areas.

This two-volume set of CCIS 391 and CCIS 392 constitutes the refereed proceedings of the Fourth International Conference on Information Computing and Applications, ICICA 2013, held in Singapore, in August 2013. The 126 revised full papers presented in both volumes were carefully reviewed and selected from 665 submissions. The papers are organized in topical sections on Internet computing and applications; engineering management and applications; Intelligent computing and applications; business intelligence and applications; knowledge management and applications; information management system; computational statistics and applications.

The 23 articles in this volume encompass the proceedings of the International Conference on Modules and Comodules held in Porto (Portugal) in 2006. The conference was dedicated to Robert Wisbauer on the occasion of his 65th birthday. These articles reflect Professor Wisbauer's wide interests and give an overview of different fields related to module theory. While some of these fields have a long tradition, others represented here have emerged in recent years.
