SING ONE SONG FOR ME Now it was just a simple casket made of pine and iron nails, Without a trace of carving or any polished brass for rails. Only present there was silence not a choir was there to sing, Not one voice to sing his praises not a single human being. I cannot forget my sadness when they took the casket down, And placed it in a six foot hole beneath the cold, cold ground. Not one voice had sung his praises not a soul was there to see, And I wondered at my passing who would sing a song for me. Charles T. Johnson 9/20/96 Sing One Song For Me is a poem based on a song done by the Stanley Brothers called Who Will Sing For Me. It has been one of those songs that have always touched me deeply. I have spent a great deal of time alone, and I can relate to one asking if there will be anyone that will sing for me.

The three most pervading questions asked by a majority of rational people are: How did I get here? Why am I here? What is my destiny? The author in his quest for answers to these questions has been induced to offer his discoveries in the writing of this book. It is my most sincere wish that perhaps many seeking souls might gain some insight into their search for answers to these all encompassing questions found in their lives, especially during these times of much uncertainty that our world seems to have gone mad. The author is persuaded that he has found answers for profound questions and solace in his daily search of the Holy Scriptures, in addition to the opinions found in the writing of scholars, theologians, philosophers and scientists. Neighl L Groh During the first forty years of my life, I lived as a nominal Christian despite the fact that I was impressively taught the importance of Christian living by my parents starting at a very early age. My mother commenced teaching my five sisters, my brother and me very early in our lives that we must follow, love and receive the Lord Jesus and accept Him as our personal Savior. In the early 1960's I met a group of Christ loving men that changed my attitude and I developed an unquenchable thirst for a much broader knowledge of God's plan and purpose for my life. Starting at the age of forty and continuing until my present age of eighty-five years, I have made it a practice to read the Old Testament once and the New Testament twice each year.

Cuthbert went through some harrowing moments in his life, from being sexually molested to losing his younger brother in a car accident. In an effort to deal with his emotions, Cuthbert put pen to paper to produce an honest and moving compilation of his personal experiences. Perhaps you will see something of yourself in Cuthbert. Reading One Man's Thoughts may give you the courage to deal with your own life problems. But Cuthbert ultimately hopes his words will "make you think about the world around you and the role that you may play in it. If I can open one mind, free one thought, or stimulate growth in the smallest way possible, then my job has been done."

I call these writings "Shorts." If they work for you, they may get you to think about love, or death, or faith, or work, or vulnerability, or friendship, or, or, or... No answers. Just a singular mind at work, producing pieces with no labels-some speeches, some fiction, some non-fiction, some musings. I've enjoyed writing them over the past couple of years; I hope you enjoy reading them. TH
