This book is the second of two volumes which contain the proceedings of the Workshop on Nonlinear Partial Differential Equations, held from May 28-June 1, 2012, at the University of Perugia in honour of Patrizia Pucci's 60th birthday. The workshop brought together leading experts and researchers in nonlinear partial differential equations to promote research and to stimulate interactions among the participants.

This volume contains the Proceedings of the 9th International Conference on Harmonic Analysis and Partial Differential Equations, held June 11-15, 2012, in El Escorial, Madrid, Spain. Included in this volume is the written version of the mini-course given by Jonathan Bennett on Aspects of Multilinear Harmonic Analysis Related to Transversality. Also included, among other papers, is a paper by Emmanouil Milakis, Jill Pipher, and Tatiana Toro, which reflects and extends the ideas presented in the mini-course on Analysis on Non-smooth Domains delivered at the conference by Tatiana Toro. The topics of the contributed lectures cover a wide range of the field of Harmonic Analysis and Partial Differential Equations and illustrate the fruitful interplay between the two subfields.

This volume contains the research and expository articles for the courses and talks given at the UIMP-RSME Lluis A. Santalo Summer School, Recent Trends in Partial Differential Equations. The goal of the Summer School was to present some of the many advances that are currently taking place in the interaction between nonlinear partial differential equations and their applications to other scientific disciplines. Oriented to young post-docs and advanced doctoral students, the courses dealt with topics of current interest. Some of the tools presented are quite powerful and sophisticated. These new methods are presented in an expository manner or applied to a particular example to demonstrate the main ideas of the method and to serve as a handy introduction to further study. Young researchers in partial differential equations and colleagues from neighboring fields will find these notes a good addition to their libraries. This is a joint publication of the Real Sociedad Matematica Espanola and the American Mathematical Society.

This volume contains the proceedings of the Stanford Symposium on Algebraic Topology: Applications and New Directions, held from July 23-27, 2012, at Stanford University, Stanford, California. The symposium was held in honor of Gunnar Carlsson, Ralph Cohen and Ib Madsen, who celebrated their 60th and 70th birthdays that year. It showcased current research in Algebraic Topology reflecting the celebrants' broad interests and profound influence on the subject. The topics varied broadly from stable equivariant homotopy theory to persistent homology and application in data analysis, covering topological aspects of quantum physics such as string topology and geometric quantization, examining homology stability in algebraic and geometric contexts, including algebraic -theory and the theory of operads.

It contains original research and survey articles on various topics in the theory of representations of Lie algebras, quantum groups and algebraic groups, including crystal bases, categorification, toroidal algebras and their generalisations, vertex algebras, Hecke algebras, Kazhdan-Lusztig bases, $q$-Schur algebras, and Weyl algebras.

This volume is composed of six contributions derived from the lectures given during the UIMP-RSME Lluis Santalo Summer School on ``Recent Advances in Real Complexity and Computation'', held July 16-20, 2012, in Santander, Spain. The goal of this Summer School was to present some of the recent advances on Smale's 17th Problem: ``Can a zero of $n$ complex polynomial equations in $n$ unknowns be found approximately, on the average, in polynomial time with a uniform algorithm?'' These papers cover several aspects of this problem: from numerical to symbolic methods in polynomial equation solving, computational complexity aspects (both worse and average cases and both upper and lower complexity bounds) as well as aspects of the underlying geometry of the problem. Some of the contributions also deal with either real or multiple solutions solving.

The influence of Solomon Lefschetz (1884-1972) in geometry and topology 40 years after his death has been very profound. Lefschetz's influence in Mexican mathematics has been even greater. In this volume, celebrating 50 years of mathematics at Cinvestav-México, many of the fields of geometry and topology are represented by some of the leaders of their respective fields. This volume opens with Michael Atiyah reminiscing about his encounters with Lefschetz and México. Topics covered in this volume include symplectic flexibility, Chern-Simons theory and the theory of classical theta functions, toric topology, the Beilinson conjecture for finite-dimensional associative algebras, partial monoids and Dold-Thom functors, the weak b-principle, orbit configuration spaces, equivariant extensions of differential forms for noncompact Lie groups, dynamical systems and categories, and the Nahm pole boundary condition.

This volume contains the proceedings of the AMS Special Session on Harmonic Analysis of Frames, Wavelets, and Tilings, held April 13-14, 2013, in Boulder, Colorado. Frames were first introduced by Duffin and Schaeffer in 1952 in the context of nonharmonic Fourier series but have enjoyed widespread interest in recent years, particularly as a unifying concept. Indeed, mathematicians with backgrounds as diverse as classical and modern harmonic analysis, Banach space theory, operator algebras, and complex analysis have recently worked in frame theory. Frame theory appears in the context of wavelets, spectra and tilings, sampling theory, and more. The papers in this volume touch on a wide variety of topics, including: convex geometry, direct integral decompositions, Beurling density, operator-valued measures, and splines. These varied topics arise naturally in the study of frames in finite and infinite dimensions. In nearly all of the papers, techniques from operator theory serve as crucial tools to solving problems in frame theory. This volume will be of interest not only to researchers in frame theory but also to those in approximation theory, representation theory, functional analysis, and harmonic analysis.
