Nietzsche S Dawn

eBook Download

BOOK EXCERPT:

The first focused study of Nietzsche's Dawn, offering a close reading of the text by two of the leading scholars on the philosophy of Nietzsche Published in 1881, Dawn: Thoughts on the Presumptions of Morality represents a significant moment in the development of Nietzsche’s philosophy and his break with German philosophic thought. Though groundbreaking in many ways, Dawn remains the least studied of Nietzsche's work. In Nietzsche's Dawn: Philosophy, Ethics, and the Passion of Knowledge, authors Keith Ansell-Pearson and Rebecca Bamford present a thorough treatment of the second of Nietzsche’s so-called “free spirit” trilogy. This unique book explores Nietzsche’s philosophy at the time of Dawn's writing and discusses the modern relevance of themes such as fear, superstition, terror, and moral and religious fanaticism. The authors highlight Dawn's links with key areas of philosophical inquiry, such as "the art of living well," skepticism, and naturalism. The book begins by introducing Dawn and discussing how to read Nietzsche, his literary and philosophical influences, his relation to German philosophy, and his efforts to advance his "free spirit" philosophy. Subsequent discussions address a wide range of topics relevant to Dawn, including presumptions of customary morality, hatred of the self, free-minded thinking, and embracing science and the passion of knowledge. Providing a lively and imaginative engagement with Nietzsche's text, this book: Highlights the importance of an often-neglected text from Nietzsche's middle writings Examines Nietzsche's campaign against customary morality Discusses Nietzsche's responsiveness to key Enlightenment ideas Offers insights on Nietzsche's philosophical practice and influences Contextualizes a long-overlooked work by Nietzsche within the philosopher's life of writing Like no other book on the subject, Nietzsche's Dawn: Philosophy, Ethics, and the Passion of Knowledge is a must-read for advanced undergraduate and graduate students, instructors, and scholars in philosophy, as well as general readers with interest in Nietzsche, particularly his middle writings.

Dawn Peyote

eBook Download

BOOK EXCERPT:

This book is far and away the most lyrical one Ive ever writt en.Dawn begins about a month before Ant Man ends. So chronologically Ant Man comes fi rst followed by this Dawn Peyote book andthen its Stewart Coates, one two threemy first thirty some years of being a nutshell, huh. Dawn Peyote, hmnn, its difficult to summarize what I was trying to say way back seven, maybe even eight years ago. Theres straight narrat ves but mixed in in extreme doses are stream of consciousness jazzy lines, like Kerouac I suppose, who was my main fountainhead at the time back Zen. I was a much more dreamy creature, more vague and unsure, rolling with the night waves, when writi ngthis book. I just wrote prett y much anything that popped into my mind and heart, theres no self-censorship whatsoever with this one, like dominoes laid up all random yet revealing the precision of my feelings my confusions and my loves and hates, even. It was the fi rst book Id writt en totally on a computer too, which felt more smooth and classical compared to the electric percussion electric typewriter, you know? Dawn Peyote is a very searching voyage. Searching within to glean the true essence of my individual being, being tossed about in the unknowable ocean ways of societi es both secret and overt. The war on the Middle East was just starti ng up when I was into writing this book, opinions were flying all over the map, religion I found thinly veiled the war-monger attitudes of many in this provincial town. The flower of justice, nonetheless, grows where you least expect it.

The Dusk Of Mankind And The Dawn Of The Kingdom

eBook Download

BOOK EXCERPT:

The Dusk of Mankind, and the Dawn of the Kingdom of God, is a book that addresses, postulates and presents the concept of an irrevocable changing of the guard in earthly authority. The bedrock of the Bible is that this world once deeded to men as a temporary possession was thwarted at the outset. In man's greed to grasp after the straws of false knowledge and deception he forfeited the gift of the kingdom of this world to the prince of deception. Man has ever since been in a tug-o-war with the devil, his own sin nature and his spirit man's desire to reconnect with God.

Global Dawn

eBook Download

BOOK EXCERPT:

Why did the United States become a global power? Frank Ninkovich shows that a cultural predisposition for thinking in global terms blossomed in the late nineteenth century, making possible the rise to world power as American liberals of the time took a wide-ranging interest in the world. Of little practical significance during a period when isolationism reigned supreme in U.S. foreign policy, this rich body of thought would become the cultural foundation of twentieth-century American internationalism.

First Light Intrinsic Unity At The Dawn Of Time

eBook Download

BOOK EXCERPT:

First Light launches the Grand Universal Lineage sequence. It explores the dawn of time and how various civilizations that are relevant for us have sought to understand the origin of all. A brief primer on scientific method then helps us appraise science’s best and most convincingly verified creation theory—the Big Bang. We visit some fun facts about our universe, explore some alternative views, and draw important implications from what they tell us. Most importantly, we see why the deep appraisal of such cosmic insights matters. Implicit here is the Oneness perspective that underlies this entire series of volumes, which I enthusiastically believe will help us all move toward a vibrant, healed future. The essence of the unity vision that drives this broader and powerful healing impulse is here.
