It is our pleasure to present the proceedings of the International Conference that was held on 1 st and 2nd March 2023 at the Department of Commerce, B.S. Abdur Rahman Crescent Institute of Science and Technology, Vandalur, Chennai. This conference provided a platform for researchers, academics, professionals, and industrialist from various fields to come together and share their research findings, innovative ideas, and experiences. The theme of the conference was "Management, Accounting, Banking, Economics and Business Research for Sustainable Development”, which attracted a diverse range of research papers, presentations and active participations. The conference was a great success, and we received an overwhelming response from participants across the globe. The conference proceedings contain papers that have been thoroughly reviewed by a panel of experts in their respective fields. These papers have undergone a rigorous peer-review process to ensure their quality and relevance to the conference theme. The proceedings cover a wide range of topics, including but not limited to the field of commerce. The papers presented in these proceedings reflect the latest developments and advancements in the field. They provide valuable insights and offer practical solutions to real-world problems. How Entrepreneurs are Driving Sustainable Development explores the variety of entrepreneurs across business and their contributions to achieving sustainable development.

This book presents a selection of articles with focus on the theoretical foundations of business ethics, and in particular on the philosophy of management and on human rights and business. This implies identifying and discussing conflicts as well as agreement with regard to the philosophical and other foundations of business and management. Despite the general interest in corporate social responsibility and business ethics, the contemporary discussion rarely touches upon the normative core and philosophical foundations of business. There is a need to discuss the theoretical basis of business ethics and of business and human rights. Even though the actions and activities of business may be discussed from a moral perspective, not least in the media, the judgments and opinions relating to business and management often lack deeper moral reflection and consistency. Partly for this reason, business ethicists are constantly challenged to provide such moral and philosophical foundations for business ethics and for business and human rights, and to communicate them in an understandable manner. Such a challenge is also of scientific kind. Positions and opinions in the academic field need to be substantiated by thorough moral and theoretical reflection to underpin normative approaches. Far too often, business ethicists may agree on matters, which they approach from different and sometimes irreconcilable philosophical standpoints, resulting in superficial agreement but deeper-lying disagreement. In other cases, it may be of high relevance to identify philosophical standpoints that despite conflicting fundamentals may arrive at conclusions acceptable to everyone.

This book aims to answer the question: how can the industry action international approaches to corporate sustainability, ultimately achieving sustainable development and overall sustainability? With this question in mind, this manuscript examines how the industry, through existing approaches to corporate sustainability, contribute to addressing conflicting demands emerging from the achievement of sustainable development in a responsible, sustainable and innovative manner. It also reviews alternative models of corporate sustainability that contribute to achieving inclusive, sustainable development globally. Chapters 2 to 4 discuss emerging approaches to corporate sustainability. Chapters 5 to 11 examine the role that the extractive industry (mining and oil) could play in the delivery of sustainable solutions for the communities and environment in selected cases, in the Americas and Africa. Lastly, the manuscript showcases international corporate sustainability and climate change practices in the forestry, agriculture, tourism and manufacturing industries within the context of Asia and The Pacific region, particularly, Nepal and Bangladesh.

Prepared by the Civil Engineering Research Foundation. This report identifies key engineering research and construction issues for the 21st century that support sustainable development. The report reflects the findings of a two-phase Delphi survey involving construction industry experts from more than 20 countries and was prepared to provide the technical context for an international research symposium that will be hosted by the Civil Engineering Research Foundation in Washington, D.C., on February 4-8, 1996. The intended audience includes worldwide representatives from government, academia and business involved in engineering and construction research. The report is organized around five focus areas: Management and Business Practices, Design Technology and Practices, Construction and Equipment, Materials and Systems, and Public and Government Policy. A team of international experts from engineering and construction disciplines author the five papers comprising this report.
