BOOK EXCERPT:
Anger is not just ubiquitous, it is also popular. Many people think it is impossible to care sufficiently for justice without anger at injustice. Many believe that it is impossible for individuals to vindicate their own self-respect or to move beyond an injury without anger. To not feel anger in those cases would be considered suspect. Is this how we should think about anger, or is anger above all a disease, deforming both the personal and the political? In this wide-ranging book, Martha C. Nussbaum, one of our leading public intellectuals, argues that anger is conceptually confused and normatively pernicious. It assumes that the suffering of the wrongdoer restores the thing that was damaged, and it betrays an all-too-lively interest in relative status and humiliation. Studying anger in intimate relationships, casual daily interactions, the workplace, the criminal justice system, and movements for social transformation, Nussbaum shows that anger's core ideas are both infantile and harmful. Is forgiveness the best way of transcending anger? Nussbaum examines different conceptions of this much-sentimentalized notion, both in the Jewish and Christian traditions and in secular morality. Some forms of forgiveness are ethically promising, she claims, but others are subtle allies of retribution: those that exact a performance of contrition and abasement as a condition of waiving angry feelings. In general, she argues, a spirit of generosity (combined, in some cases, with a reliance on impartial welfare-oriented legal institutions) is the best way to respond to injury. Applied to the personal and the political realms, Nussbaum's profoundly insightful and erudite view of anger and forgiveness puts both in a startling new light.

BOOK EXCERPT:
Power Up Today! You can be healed through the power of forgiveness. Supernatural healing is available! Faith moves God, but forgiveness releases His power. When you chose to forgive, you break the legal right the devil has to torment you mentally, physically, and financially. The Kingdom of God is peace, righteousness, and joy—this is the atmosphere God intends for you. When you refuse to forgive, you are turned over to satan’s tormentors until the debt has been paid. Fear has torment; therefore, fears, phobias, sicknesses, and pains are given rights to inflict your body, mind, and finances. But through repentance and forgiveness, you can be healed and set free—now. Deep discussions include unforgiveness toward: Self. Others. God. The Power of Forgiveness is a concise manual about supernatural healing that explores the connection between forgiveness and physical, emotional, and spiritual healing. This revelation forever changed the author’s personal life and his ministry. The many modern-day, true-life stories of those healed through the power of forgiveness inspire a deeper level of intimacy with Father God.

BOOK EXCERPT:
Living in Kingdom Power will help you discover God's desire and ability to meet your deepest need and point out the areas that may be hindering you from living the abundant life Jesus promised in John 10:10. Jo Ann Atherton, ministry leader and teacher, reveals the love that God has for each of His children and His desire that we step into the resurrection life of Jesus Christ. The author offers the "How-to's" of overcoming life's hurts and hindrances. The truths shared in this book will help you experience the restoring love and power of the Heavenly Father and give you tools to help others experience joy and freedom in Christ. Bob and Jo Ann Atherton have experienced great success in the pastoral ministry for many years, but have also experienced grief and trauma over the death of their first spouses. God supernaturally put them together in 2006 to complete the work that was started in the early 80's by Jo Ann and her first husband Don Dehon. God took Jo Ann on a healing journey that includes deliverance from life hurts, fears and compulsions. Together Bob and Jo Ann direct Sunrise Ministries International, an outreach to bring restoration to those with life-limiting addictions, compulsions and childhood hurts. The Sunrise Seminars offer help, hope and healing to all who want to break free from the roots of life's most persistent and controlling problems. In addition to the work in the USA this ministry has equipped pastors and leaders in Russia, Ukraine, Israel, Africa, Canada, Singapore, Europe and India.

BOOK EXCERPT:
The Holy Bible is a life-giving collection of sixty-six inspiring literary masterpieces. Hebrews 4:12 states that The word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. The author has first encountered this life-changing word of God over 40 years ago; his life got drastically changed. This book is a collection of his personal thoughts and experiences compiled daily as he studied the Bible during his devotional time. Indeed, great blessings are experienced when the Bible is studied in its entirety. Yet, even a quick perusal can be spiritually beneficial, too. We may liken a Bible verse merely as a crumb from the whole loaf of Gods word. But they are golden, hence, the title The Golden Crumbs.

BOOK EXCERPT:
Spiritual teacher and bridge-builder Brother David Steindl-Rast translates the Apostles' Creed for today, uncovering the deeper universal truths that can be an inspiration to all people. In Deeper than Words: Living the Apostles’ Creed, Brother David reexamines the words with which the early followers of Jesus summarized their faith. Reading line-by-line with an open perspective, he reveals the often overlooked message of trust, compassion, peace, love, and awareness contained in this widely known but rarely examined statement. Deeper than Words moves beyond ritual and exclusivity and instead finds a deeper faith based in real human experience and the sense of limitless belonging that is shared by all people who seek to understand themselves and the world. The words of the Apostles' Creed are Christian, but its heart is a universal and timeless guide to fullness of life. From this transformation perspective, developed over a lifetime of contemplation, Brother David presents a powerful call to renewal through reconnection with the spiritual and a reawakening to shared sacred truths.
