Complex Ptsd And Recovery

BOOK EXCERPT:

Post Traumatic Stress Disorder is debilitating. Life seems to be on hold. Accomplishing the smallest of tasks takes all the stamina you can muster. Without treatment the symptoms get worst. Many suffer in silence. They simply don't have the energy or will power to leave the house and face the public to attend therapy appointments for help with their PTSD. That is where books come in handy. You can work on your healing in the privacy of your own home. I've written this book to help you on your road to recovery. I've written this book in an easy to follow format without a lot of unnecessary medical jargon. I've written this book precise and to the point to make it easy to read in one sitting so you will be able to apply the strategies I've shared right away. This book was written to help all those struggling to overcome Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and problems surrounding PTSD. It is human nature to dream. When we go to sleep at night, we dream of things only our brains could scope out. And as it is usual to dream, it is also usual to day dream. Day dreaming is different from dreaming in the sense that all outside stimuli can directly affect what goes on in your daydream, sounds, scents, what the wind feels like. But imagine what life would be like if you had constant and unending nightmares instead of dreams? Nightmares that are vivid and complete in all their lucidity. And even worse, if you were seeing these nightmares as day dreams in waking life and will all the accompaniment of sound, scents, and feeling that may not be to your benefit. Post-traumatic stress disorder, depending on any specific person, may be triggered by absolutely anything and these triggers when outside in society cannot exactly be predicated to happen or fully avoided. Post-traumatic stress disorder can be very difficult to deal with as it chooses neither time nor place and is caused by deep rooting trauma which may be far gone and hard to get rid of. This book contains proven steps and strategies on how to fully understand the prevalence of post-traumatic stress disorder, its causes, symptoms, and tests to diagnose its inhabitance in a person. This book also includes a list of treatment options in order to make the reader aware of all the choices he has.

BOOK EXCERPT:

Introducing a radical healing approach for the adult symptoms of Childhood PTSD—from the creator of the Crappy Childhood Fairy program and YouTube channel. Conventional trauma treatments (talk therapy and medication) simply don't work for many trauma survivors, and now we know why. Researchers have identified the core symptom that drives most other symptoms—neurological dysregulation. It's an injury to your nervous system triggered by abuse and neglect in childhood, and it can profoundly impact your physical health, damage your ability to learn and focus, and hold you back from forming caring relationships. The good news is that healing is possible, and in Re-Regulated, author Anna Runkle (aka the Crappy Childhood Fairy) shows you how. Chapter by chapter, she teaches you practical steps to identify signs of dysregulation, quickly re-regulate, and then stay regulated more of the time. Drawing from her own experience healing Childhood PTSD symptoms, and her decades of work coaching and mentoring thousands of others working to heal from abuse and neglect in the past, Anna helps you calm triggers, break out of isolation, and change the self-defeating behaviors that are so common for traumatized people. From a regulated state, things can move forward rapidly in every area of your life so you can become your full and real self at last. You'll learn: · Practical techniques to release trauma-driven thinking and strengthen focus · Principles to overcome trauma-driven thinking and behaviors that hold you back · Strategies to manage overwhelming emotions before they hurt relationships · A process to build your capacity to connect with other people · A "Daily Practice" to help you start each day regulated and energized Anna's tools can be used on your own or as a complement to professional therapy. With her help, you can achieve calmness and clarity you never imagined possible.

The Ptsd Workbook

eBook Download

BOOK EXCERPT:

Trauma survivors need to find ways to work through their experiences and get a sense of meaning and understanding is great. While the majority of those who have experienced direct trauma or who have witnessed trauma will heal, even persons who do not develop full-blown post-traumatic stress disorder, or PTSD, will experience a number of the symptoms of post-traumatic stress: flashbacks; intrusive thoughts and memories; hyperreactivity; avoidance of persons, places, things, and other triggers; jumpiness; and other symptoms. Other persons have experienced lifelong traumas that are character changing; many of these people suffer from a syndrome that researchers are just beginning to describe, called complex PTSD. This workbook was conceptualized as a resource for the survivor who experiences a few or many of the symptoms of PTSD or complex PTSD. When we were first asked to develop this book, we asked colleagues to share exercises that might help survivors do the work themselves. We also began to focus on the exercises we use in our own clinical work. Indeed, our clinical experience is what makes us qualified to author this book. Both of us are primarily grunt workers in the trenches of the field of trauma. We have met with many clients on a regular basis for both short-term and long-term therapy. That extensive experience allows us to say that though the road of healing may be long and difficult, healing can and does happen. In this workbook, you will have the opportunity to complete numerous exercises that will give you insight into your symptoms, your beliefs, your behaviors, and your feelings about the trauma or traumas you endured. Many of these exercises can be completed in the book itself, so that the book becomes a record of your recovery from trauma as well as a resource for you to turn to again and again throughout that recovery. Other exercises can be completed in a separate notebook or journal, which can also be used to expand upon the exercises you complete in the book or to record your other thoughts and feelings along your journey to healing. We hope that this book will help you on that journey.
