On July 6, 1979 my mother-in-law, Beatrice Gnotek, breathed her last breath and stepped into eternity. It is not the fact that she died but the experience she had shortly before she died that has profoundly impacted my life. On the morning she died, she was visited by Jesus Christ who spoke directly to her and then proceeded to take her by the hand and walk her into the kingdom of God. I was privileged to be present and to be an eyewitness to these incredible events. As an eyewitness to her encounter with Jesus, I had a curtain to eternity parted and saw with my own eyes and heard with my own ears the reality of the life to come. This singular day has shaped and transformed my understanding of the living reality of Jesus and his personal presence for those who love him. My mother-in-law, shortly before her death, made a profound statement. She said, "The church does a fairly good job at teaching us how to live as Christians, but I did not receive any teaching or practical preparation for dying." My goal in writing this book is to open discussion and investigation into the final event of human existence this side of heaven for those who trust in Jesus so that we can be equipped and prepared for that great event. It is vital for the reader to understand that this book is focusing on those who have made a personal profession of faith in Jesus Christ prior to that final day. I will personally relate some of the experiences I have had with the more than 30 people who have died in my presence. In each of these cases, the Lord Jesus came for the individual at the final hour. Although each situation is different, the common characteristics of peace, joy, and hope accompanied each encounter.

This work is a collection of 42 of Flavel's sermons on the person and work of Christ. Being a puritan, the work Flavel displays here is well thought out but presented in a way that will require some reflection from the reader. In a time when Christian values, especially those of the Catholic church were being called into question, it is important to take a historical look at what the puritan preachers were teaching in their day in order for us to get a sense of what Christ in this circumstance, requires from us and Flavel gives a good picture of who Christ was and his requirements of us.

All through my writings of enjoyment, and as I meet my fellow sportsperson in His wild, experiencing God in His creation, in the moment, brings an awareness and/or a renewed love for the Father. Through an outdoor adventure of fishing, hunting, camping, and backpacking, a deeper understanding of His Word comes to life. As we enjoy our passions in life of the great outdoors, how amazing it is to share with others Christ and His love for them. Just as Christ taught the disciples while walking down a road or in a fishing boat, I get to share who He is with my fellow adventurers, making the connection of the outdoors with the Creator. Taking time to praise, worship, and pray while casting a line or walking a trail or waiting for the morning sun, He is there. Keeping us ready to carry Him into our everyday life.

When a golfer takes a mulligan, the first shot doesn't count. He gets a second swing to correct his mistake. In the game of life, we all want the same kind of do-over. We want a mulligan of grace, a second chance based strictly on God's unmerited favor and his unconditional love. Satans goal is to keep everyone away from God, and he does this by filling our minds with lies about God and lies about the Christian life. He puts fear in our hearts so we tend to hide from the Lord just as Adam and Eve did after disobeying God, Genesis 3:9-10). This book was written to reveal the truth about God and his perfect love for us. As you read and study each lesson, open your mind for understanding and your heart for the truth. Let Gods love set you free from fear, anxiety, worry, and all those negative emotions, for the word says, Perfect love cast out fear, (1 John 4:18). Christ said The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full, (John 10:10). Fill your heart with Gods love and live life to the full.
