The Saskatoon Runaways and Street Youth Project consisted of an in-depth analysis of a community's response to runaways and street youth. The research conducted for the project included interviews with youth-serving agency personnel, youth, and community groups, as well as a delphi conference involving those interviewed. This report presents a detailed discussion of the methodological strategies used in specific components of this project, a summary of the perceptions of service providers of the characteristics of Saskatoon's runaway and street youth population, an overview of the operation of various parts of the youth services system, a review of one neighborhood's experiences in improving its quality of life, the views of young people on runaways and street youth, an exploration of possibilities for future community action, and a discussion of various policy implications derived from the project.
