This book is a tribute to Harald Fritzsch (1943-2022), who has made outstanding contributions to the development of modern particle physics. He was a pioneer of QCD, the gauge theory of strong interactions, and contributed significantly to Grand Unified Theories and to the physics of quark and lepton flavors.The present book collects reminiscences of Harald Fritzsch and scientific articles, written by friends, colleagues, collaborators and former students. The contributed articles span a wide range of topics, reflecting Harald's broad interests in physics, from QCD and its applications at high and low energies, the flavor puzzle, flavor symmetries and textures, to gravity, constants of Nature and fundamental symmetries and their violation. This annual SUSY conference has become the world's largest international meeting devolted to new ideas in high energy physics. The main subject of the conference is theoretical and phenomenological aspects of supersymmetric theories, and dark matter and dark energy, and other comological connections. New, interesting results from various experimental groups are increasingly presented at the conference as well. With roughly 200 plenary and parallel presentations, SUSY08 will likely deliver energy and enthusiasm of both theorists and experimentalists who are searching the frontier of high energy physics.

Walter Greiner (1935-2016) was a German physicist of the Goethe University, Frankfurt, well-known for his many contributions in scientific research and developments, in particular the field of nuclear physics. He was a well-respected science leader and a teacher who had supervised batches of young collaborators and students, many of whom are now leaders in both academics and industry worldwide. Greiner had a wide interest of science which covered atomic physics, heavy-ion physics, and nuclear astrophysics. Greiner co-founded GSI, the Helmholtz Centre for Heavy Ion Research, and the multi-disciplinary research center, FIAS (Frankfurt Institute for Advanced Studies). Besides numerous professorship with universities worldwide, including the University of Maryland, Greiner received many prestigious prizes in honor of his outstanding contributions, among others are the Otto Hahn Prize and the Max Born Prize.This memorial volume is a special tribute by Greiner's former colleagues, students, and friends honoring his contributions and passion in science. The volume begins with a writing by Greiner about his early days in science. This book contains the proceedings of the 14th International Conference on Supersymmetry and the Unification of Fundamental Interactions, SUSY06, held in Irvine, California, in June 2006. This conference took place just before the start of the Large Hadron Collider, widely anticipated to yield profound new results, and provided a focus for the growing excitement in high energy physics through over 250 plenary and parallel talks.

The first precision measurements on CP violation in the B system are reported. Both the BELLE and the BABAR collaboration presented, among others, results for sin 2ß with much improved accuracy. Results from the Sudbury Neutrino Observatory, SNO, also deserve to be mentioned. The convincing evidence of solar neutrino oscillations had been presented by SNO prior to the conference; a full presentation was given at the conference. An incredibly precise measurement of the anomalous magnetic moment of the muon is reported, a fresh result from the Brookhaven National Laboratory. Apart from these distinct physics highlights, there are also the first results from the new Tevatron run and from the relativistic heavy ion collider RHIC. Theorists write of our ever better understanding of the Standard Model and of what might lie beyond.
