The Dharma In Dna

eBook Download

BOOK EXCERPT:

"The Dharma in DNA has three objectives: 1) to share the rich but underappreciated history of biology-Buddhism intersections and surprising harmonies between the two traditions, 2) to evaluate Buddhist teachings from a scientific perspective using DNA as the focus of study, and 3) to propose a new approach to science, Bodhi Science, as an ethical and operational framework for conducting Buddhist wisdom-guided science and preventing pseudoscience. An interwoven side project examines the life journey of the author, a professor of genetics and father in a transracial adoptive family, who questions the apparent paradox of his fascination with DNA in the lab but disinterest in passing on his own DNA. Early book chapters present the core teachings and diversifications of Buddhism over the last twenty-five centuries. Subsequent chapters share stories of biology-Buddhism interactions, situated in the colonial contexts; examples derive from early 20th century Sri Lanka and Japan, and contemporary activities of the Dalai Lama and Western biological scholars. The hypothesis-guided analysis of Buddhist principles and DNA then begins, touring through classical genetic research alongside modern post-genomic insights. The investigation reveals strong support for three core Buddhist concepts - anitya (impermanence), anatman (non-self), and pratitysamutpada (mutual cause-and-effect) - as applied to DNA. Bodhi Science is proposed as a new mode of scientific inquiry rooted in Buddhist teachings. The approach is based on four qualities: selflessness, detachment, awareness, and compassion. Bodhi Science provides a path to strong science rooted in logic-based Buddhist ethics, and helps scientists avoid the deceptive and damaging waters of pseudoscience"--

Is Divine Energy

eBook Download

BOOK EXCERPT:

Is Divine Energy: The secret of the limitless immanent value is a profound explanation of why divine is a state of mind. Our divinity is the impact we make through our conscious decisions. We also reproduce transcendental divinity by para-consciously letting our decisions be guided by a para entity’s divine plan. After that, we seek to invest our divine energy to compensate for programmatic, evolution-guided behaviors and become a revolutionary servicing our supernatural impact. What begins with a linear proportionality of each person’s intrinsic divinity transforms into a nonlinear proportionality of the extrinsic divinity and motivates a parabolic proportionality of the person’s present, absolute divinity. The infinity of microcosmic parabolic reactions constitutes a chaotic reality at the macrocosmic level. The chaotic reality lets the first moving, primordial entities enjoy a disproportionate conscious benefit of growth in their divinity. The later evolving, primeval entities suffer a disproportionate conscious cost of entropy in their divinity. At any moment, the present entity has a choice not to be either the evolved and constrained follower or the revolving and constraining leader. A present entity may decide to be a freedom entrepreneur, inspiring everybody to be the revolutionary and appropriate the entire evolutionary benefit of devoted followership of the perpetuating para deity oneself. For avoiding the certainty of the survival of only the one who is free from the two-dimensional present-effect as the fittest, we need to master the technique of responsibly managing the divine element. Is Divine Energy highlights how by opening one’s mind, one may become free from the theory-effect of a culturally-binding primordial creator and the ideal-effect of a consciousness-binding absolute creature. It demonstrates how each primeval creation of Mother Nature can enjoy the limitless transformations of the desired mood, destiny, divinity, and eternity using the self as the immanent value. It elegantly integrates and resolves grand challenges in a range of scientific disciplines and metaphysical discourses. Dr. Vipin Gupta has a Ph.D. in managerial science and applied economics from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. He is a gold medalist from the Post-graduate Program of the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad, India. He is a Professor of sensible management and appropriate science at the Jack H. Nonsense Mutation Correction In Human Diseases

eBook Download

BOOK EXCERPT:

Nonsense Mutation Correction in Human Diseases: An Approach for Targeted Medicine provides an introduction on genetic diseases, discusses the prevalence of nonsense mutations, the consequences of a nonsense mutation for the expression of the mutant gene, and the presentation of the nonsense-mediated mRNA decay (NMD). It presents the mechanism of action and rationale associated with each strategy to correct nonsense mutations with the results of clinical trials to further support this basis. In addition, the book shows how it may be possible to combine several of these strategies to ultimately improve the efficiency of correction, also suggesting the future goals and objectives to improve treatment modalities in this evolving sphere of personalized medicine. - Features basic biological and clinical constructs that inform the application of genomic data to clinical decision-making - Includes theories and methods that can be used to link bio-molecular and clinical phenotypes so as to enable integrative hypothesis discovery, testing, and downstream evidence-based practice - Provides design patterns and use cases that contextualize the clinical decision-making and evidence-based practice relative to real world requirements and stakeholders
