In a small coastal town where the sea meets the sky, Solara Vexley and Orion Thorne, childhood sweethearts, share a love as deep and boundless as the ocean itself. From a young age, they promised to remain together, regardless of what the future might hold. But fate is cruel, and Solara is diagnosed with a rare, incurable illness, leaving them with only a fragile thread of time. Orion, desperate to save her, embarks on a perilous journey to find a cure, even if it means sacrificing everything he holds dear. His closest friend, Cassian "Cass" Sterling, a brilliant but eccentric scientist, aids him in his search with increasingly strange and risky methods. Despite their efforts, hope dwindles, and as Solara's health deteriorates, Orion is forced to face the terrifying reality that he might lose the love of his life.

BOOK EXCERPT:
This novel tells the life of a daughter left alone for a long time, troubled by situations she does not understand. When her father returns, a new life will begin for her. His presence will help her understand the evils that afflict her. It will be tiring days that will lead her to the full awareness of a new dimension. It also tells about parent-child relationships and the world in which everyone lives. It is the story of those who want to heal from dissatisfaction and improve their lives and the surrounding environment without indulging in a sense of ignorance, victimisation and defeat. But it is also the story of those who, mocked by many, put themselves at the head of the white flock with their raven-black fur.

BOOK EXCERPT:
Sudden, extreme deaths have always fascinated us-- and now more than ever as athletes and travelers rise to the challenges of high-risk sports and journeys on the edge. In this spellbinding book, veteran travel and outdoor sports writer Peter Stark reenacts the dramas of what happens inside our bodies, our minds, and our souls when we push ourselves to the absolute limits of human endurance. Combining the adrenaline high of extreme sports with the startling facts of physiological reality, Stark narrates a series of outdoor adventure stories in which thrill can cross the line to mortal peril. Each death or brush with death is at once a suspense story, a cautionary tale, and a medical thriller. Stark describes in unforgettable detail exactly what goes through the mind of a cross-country skier as his body temperature plummets-- apathy at ninety-one degrees, stupor at ninety. He puts us inside the body of a doomed kayaker tumbling helplessly underwater for two minutes, five minutes, ten minutes. He conjures up the physiology of a snowboarder frantically trying not to panic as he consumes the tiny pocket of air trapped around his face under thousands of pounds of snow. These are among the dire situations that Stark transforms into harrowing accounts of how our bodies react to trauma, how reflexes and instinct compel us to fight back, and how, why, and when we let go of our will to live. In an increasingly tamed and homogenized world, risk is not only a means of escape but a path to spirituality. As Peter Stark writes, "You must try to understand death intimately and prepare yourself for death in order to live a full and satisfying life." In this fascinating, informative book, Stark reveals exactly what we’re getting ourselves into when we choose to live-- and die-- at the extremes of endurance.

BOOK EXCERPT:
This carefully crafted ebook: "TILL THE LAST BREATH – The Incredible True Story of Louis Hughes & Jacob D. Green's Attempts to Break Free” is formatted for your eReader with a functional and detailed table of contents. "The institution of human slavery, as it existed in this country, has long been dead; and, happily for all the sacred interests which it assailed, there is for it no resurrection. It may, therefore, be asked to what purpose is the story which follows, of the experiences of one person under that dead and accursed institution?..." (Thirty Years a Slave) "Thirty Years a Slave" gives a glimpse the pitiable conditions of slaves, their inhuman treatment by their owners, the politics of slave markets and their complex relationships with the white population. In this book the author Louis Hughes dwells upon the intimate aspects of his own life like the painful separation with his mother and his marriage, his personal tragedies and his attempts of running away from the bondage of slavery. "Narrative of the Life of J.D. Green, A Runaway Slave” is another remarkable autobiography by Jacob D. Green which dwells on his three prominent attempts to escape in 1839, 1846, and 1848 and his perseverance in the face of failures. Louis Hughes was born on a Virginian Plantation to a mixed race parents with a Black slave mother and sold in Richmond slave market in 1844. While still in slavery he learnt about medicines from his master and helped his fellow slaves. After emancipation Hughes became a successful businessman in Wisconsin and wrote his autobiography. Jacob D. Green was born into slavery with 113 other slaves on a plantation in Kentucky with only his mother as family. Green did many "awful" things like seeking a murderous revenge from a man who thrashed him and making daring choices that would eventually lead to his freedom.

For fans of John D. MacDonald and his coastal Florida mysteries, The Last Breath by Danny Lopez will rekindle the flame. Unemployed newspaper reporter Dexter Vega is hired to investigate the drowning of Liam Fleming, the son of a wealthy real estate investor in Siesta Key. Vega’s search for clues takes him from one end of this picturesque barrier island off the coast of Sarasota to the other. But nothing adds up. Liam was young, an experienced swimmer, apparently healthy—and drowned in four feet of water. And why was Liam living in a beach shack? Why was he buying properties and not selling them? The police are getting nowhere as they identify every beach bum on Siesta Key as a suspect. But Vega narrows his investigation to two—one who disappears, and the other he’s falling in love with. Beach bums and hippies go missing, while greed, beachfront property, and drugs swirl in vicious loops—and when they converge, Vega puts his life on the line to find the truth.
