BOOK EXCERPT:
A romance of the far future, in which humankind has relocated underground, where it is beset by monsters from another dimension—but love leads on. In the far future, humankind’s survivors huddle below Earth’s frozen surface in a pyramidal fortress-city that, for centuries now, has been under siege by loathsome “Ab-humans,” enormous slugs and spiders, and malevolent “Watching Things” from another dimension. When our unnamed protagonist receives a telepathic distress signal from a woman whom (in a previous incarnation) he’d once loved, he sallies forth on an ill-advised rescue mission—into the fiend-haunted Night Land! “Like certain rare dreams,” C. S. Lewis wrote of Hodgson’s masterpiece, The Night Land can give “sensations we never had before and enlarge our conception of the range of possible experience.” H. P. Lovecraft agreed that this is “one of the most potent pieces of macabre imagination ever written.” William Hope Hodgson (1877–1918) was an English poet, sailor, bodybuilder, and weird fiction pioneer whose horror, fantastic, and proto-sf novels—in addition to The Night Land—include The Boats of the “Glen Carrig” (1907), The House on the Borderland (1908), and The Ghost Pirates (1909). He also wrote stories in the Sargasso Sea series, the Captain Gault series, and a series about the occult detective Carnacki.

BOOK EXCERPT:
"This to be Love, that your spirit to live in a natural holiness with the Beloved, and your bodies to be a sweet and natural delight that shall be never lost of a lovely mystery.... And shame to be unborn, and all things to go wholesome and proper, out of an utter greatness of understanding; and the Man to be an Hero and a Child before the Woman; and the Woman to be an Holy Light of the Spirit and an Utter Companion and in the same time a glad Possession unto the Man.... And this doth be Human Love...." "...for this to be the especial glory of Love, that it doth make unto all Sweetness and Greatness, and doth be a fire burning all Littleness; so that did all in this world to have met The Beloved, then did Wantonness be dead, and there to grow Gladness and Charity, dancing in the years."

BOOK EXCERPT:
A dark academia, parallel universe fantasy. Perfect for fans of A Discovery of Witches and The DaVinci Code. Evie remembers nothing of the fantastical world she was born in. Not its whimsical beauty that inspired the paintings she studies as an art history student. Not Alicrat, the astonishing ability to manipulate threads of existence. And not her mother, who disappeared after securing her daughter’s safety. But when a mysterious stranger, Charlie, reunites Evie with her family heirloom — an ancient book written in the indecipherable Alterra Lingua — she remembers him. Burgeoned by the hope of finding her mother and tempted by the mystery of decoding the book with Charlie, Evie returns to the sister world of her birth. Between the centuries-old clues from a legendary Renaissance artist, the crumbling castle archives holding a millennia of history, and the oracle in exile who knows the unknowable, Evie learns her destiny is inextricably intertwined with the good and evil of both worlds. With the danger that hunted her mother growing perilously powerful, she must decide what, if anything, should be sacrificed for the greater good.
