Sacred Practices For Conscious Living

eBook Download

BOOK EXCERPT:

Now, nearly two decades later, Napier is ready to share more of her own life story while returning to the subject she was first introduced to by her grandmother. As she comes again to the topic that pervades her life story, she focuses on several themes, including: - the importance of experiencing a sense of meaning in life; - the sacred nature of all beings and life itself; - the belief that everything is an essential part of the full expression of one life, both individually and collectively, and that we inherently draw from an underlying wholeness; - the power of what it means to be aware in the present moment; and, - the fact that suffering is part of everyday life, and we can learn to move through it. Napier explains that once we recognize our place within collective consciousness-- and focus on compassion and mindfulness--we can begin to experience more directly the interdependence and interconnection underlying our place in the universe.

Metamorphosis Through Conscious Living

eBook Download

BOOK EXCERPT:

Metamorphosis, the theme of this book, derives from the Ancient Greek language and refers to a transformative process that often includes disintegration and reintegration, on the route to conscious living with self, community and the world. This collection proposes that engagement with the sacred is what makes research and practice transpersonal, the sacred ‘other’ that lives both within and beyond us as individuals and unique cultures. The transpersonal approach is distinctive in that it regards the potential metamorphosis of all those involved in research and professional practice a core value. This volume engages the audience in professional, practical, as well as inquiry-related topics that reflect the diverse nature of the transpersonal studies field, and extend an experience of metamorphosis to the reader. The book moves scholarship forward in an innovative and creative way with relevant themes that not only honour the sacred, but lend a transpersonal paradigm to scientific and professional methods and models.

Conscious

eBook Download

BOOK EXCERPT:

Conscious is a deeply human approach to personal change Our world is changing faster than our ability to adapt. Ambushed by speed, complexity, and uncertainty, many of us are unprepared for this acceleration. We act on autopilot as new challenges confront us. We are too reactive to problems and miss out on opportunities. We get hijacked by conflicting values and polarizing relationships. We face uncertainty with fear and mistrust. Stress and burnout are pervasive as many of us do not perform up to our potential. Organizations are not adapting well either. Seventy percent of change efforts fail. Slow execution, unrealized growth, unhealthy cultures, and obsession with short-term results undermine long-term success. Inside communities, there is more tension, diminishing trust in our institutions, and a growing inability to solve our most complex social problems. The primary culprit for these maladies is our lack of awareness. Let’s face it: Our current approach to change is running out of steam. And the cost of unaware people is too high to pay. In this age of acceleration, we need a fresh approach to living and leading. CONSCIOUS is our wake-up call – to be aware, awake, and accountable. Nothing is more important than understanding ourselves, our relationships, and our surroundings. Being conscious helps us think deeper, learn faster, and collaborate better. The more conscious we are, the faster we adapt, and the higher performing we become. Conscious is the new smart. As one of the premier global experts on leadership and transformation, Bob Rosen and Healthy Companies have revealed a profound truth about modern-day change: the most successful people, at all levels of society, follow four powerful practices of being conscious: Go Deep – Discover your inner self Think Big – See a world of possibilities Get Real – Be honest and intentional Step Up – Act boldly and responsibly Conscious is your personal roadmap through transformation – helping you adapt and accelerate into the future. To create sustainable change for yourself and your business. Why not be the one with your head lights on while others are driving in the dark?

The Power Of Your Vision

eBook Download

BOOK EXCERPT:

Each of us has the full right to be fulfilled and to achieve our secret desires. The desires of the heart are those to which our soul aspires and for which we are born. This book wants to inspire you to find inside yourself what makes your heart beat and follow it with passion and trust, knowing that somewhere it will take you, even if at this moment you don't know how and don't see the end of the "road". One of the greatest things in life is to recognize and embrace one's vision and to follow it with passion and enthusiasm. This small but precious book will reveal to you how to use powerful tools and "powers", almost unknown to the mass of people, whose conscience is asleep in front of the TV and the innumerable distractions of life. The power of Intention and Imagination to influence that powerful force that guides our every step in life: the Subconscious. What distinguishes you and the great characters of history or your neighbor who seems to possess everything and have a rich and "lucky" life, is only and only what exists in the depth of consciousness, formed by fears and doubts or, on the contrary , from empowering beliefs. The subconscious is like a system file that exists in every computer and allows it to work. Just format, change and "upgrade" this software and you're done. Very beautiful things will begin to appear, almost by "magic", in your life.

The Philosophical Dimension Of Psychology A Beginner S Guide

eBook Download

BOOK EXCERPT:

Both students and professors typically assume that the content of introductory psychology textbooks, which are empirical in nature, are identical to psychology proper. Yet, what is surprising is how many interesting psychological insights can be found in both philosophy and literature that are often not found in psychology texts. Such insights are clearly psychological in nature, yet they do not go back to any empirical investigation. It seems that basic psychology textbooks—typically providing the basis for undergraduate and graduate psychology programs—represent only one important dimension of psychology: empirical psychology. But there is no simple, co-extensive identity between psychology and empirical psychology. ‘The Philosophical Dimension of Psychology: A Beginner’s Guide’ begins with an investigation of what constitutes the subject matter of psychology, which demonstrates the aspects of psychological reality that are ignored, missed or at times even theoretically denied by mainline contemporary psychology (if they lack an empirical warrant). Such matters include inner conscious experience, the world of intrinsic value, as well as the higher, uniquely personal dimension of human nature (that is, of intellect and will). This book, therefore, offers a more complete survey of the entire sphere of psychological reality, which could provide the context for more properly interpreting empirical psychological phenomena. For example, should we understand psychological conditioning principles within a broader context of personal freedom? Is a person more rightly conceived in a psychologically immanent way, that is, oriented simply toward the fulfillment of instincts and needs, or is there as well a transcendent orientation, oriented to truth and meaning? Should we understand psychology simply from the point of view of efficient causation, or do we need to also take into account final causation? It will be of interest to psychology students of either undergraduate or graduate level and of great use to those with no prior knowledge of philosophy.
