BOOK EXCERPT:
Gripped by life’s most rewarding and unsettling moments, author Heather S. Allen and her children embraced the love of their Father through worship, prayer, and prophetic art. Dreams and visions became the norm as God took them into the supernatural way of living above their circumstances. The Royal Path of Love explores the spiritual journey that resulted from that transformation. It presents poetry, stories, and spiritual revelation designed to bring the fire of renewal and growth amid life’s beautiful moments and challenges. It guides us to embrace the beauty of our Heavenly Father; Jesus, our Savior; and the Holy Spirit, our guide. These expressions from the heart seek to grip your soul in a deeper revelation of how to worship and love God with passion that will in return pour out love toward our people, our state, and our nation. They focus on honoring the past of our founding fathers, capturing the present as we look into the social and spiritual issues of the church and state today, and considering the future of the church. We can take a stand, ready and willing to make a difference for good while working toward unity. This faith-based study presents a collection of writings tracing the journey of worshiping God in heaven and experiencing Jesus in the most profound way.

BOOK EXCERPT:
In late nineteenth-century America, a new type of book became commonplace in millions of homes across the country. Volumes sporting such titles as The Way to Win and Onward to Fame and Fortune promised to show young men how to succeed in life. But despite their upbeat titles, success manuals offered neither practical business advice nor a simple celebration of the American Dream. Instead, as Judy Hilkey reveals, they presented a dire picture of an uncertain new age, portraying life in the newly industrialized nation as a brutal struggle for survival, but arguing that adherence to old-fashioned virtues enabled any determined man to succeed. Hilkey offers a cultural history of success manuals and the industry that produced and marketed them. She examines the books' appearance, iconography, and intended audience--primarily native-born, rural and small-town men of modest means and education--and explores the genre's use of gendered language to equate manhood with success, femininity with failure. Ultimately, argues Hilkey, by articulating a worldview that helped legitimate the new social order to those most threatened by it, success manuals urged readers to accommodate themselves to the demands of life in the industrial age.

BOOK EXCERPT:
Through the centuries, Gypsies all over the world have been misunderstood, maligned, rejected. Outcasts of the countries in which they live, they have wandered for centuries over the face of the earth. They have no homeland, no political unity, no recognition among nations. They have been alone, sundered, shunned, persecuted and banished. Until about a century ago, their original home had been a matter of dispute. Their language had been a source of puzzlement. Yet their conduct and their traditions, their feeling for music, dance and song, have all been acclaimed. Still they were not accepted and were forced to remain apart from conventional society. Here is their epic history, with its folktales and beliefs, its rites and customs. Here is the vast treasury of the Gypsies.
