What's been missing the past 30-years that prevented voters and leaders from hearing or acting upon the Gierach call —and the Civil Society call—for legalized, controlled and regulated drugs and drug markets? Why the public repulsion from the Silver Bullet Solution to the many-tentacled, drug-prohibition monster? Have you lost a child to fentanyl or heroin overdose? Are you worried about losing a loved one to drug addiction or drug accident? Is your neighborhood threatened by violent crime and gangs? Is it safe for your child to get to school, go to the park, or play outside?Do you live in a safe, suburban neighborhood but yet feel like you need a firearm to be "safe" in your own home, car, or traveling on a big-city expressway?Do you believe the World War on Drugs (62 years old) has been a dismal failure and ongoing drug seizures by the ton are evidence of that failure?Regardless of color, does it anger you that Blacks, Latinos, and poor Whites are sitting in American prisons for drug crimes at disparate rates?Did you know that drug prohibition causes needless bullet-holes and that "bullet-hole healthcare" greatly contributes to an unaffordable healthcare system—whether called Obamacare, Trumpcare or Single-Payer?This book offers answers to these challenges, and it broadcasts the idea that there is something "YOU CAN DO" about it. You can help the new public opinion evolve.

BOOK EXCERPT:
In this book, Richardson's research spans a decade and two cities - Sydney, Australia and Montreal, Canada - focusing on three metro-style rail infrastructure case study projects: one ongoing, one failed and one upgraded after reaching fifty years of age – to build an irrefutable case that the news media is highly influential to policy, and that these influences are complex, messy and changing. News Media Influence on Rail Infrastructure Policy offers scholars and industry practitioners in the arenas of policy analysis, politics and media communications a method for astutely guiding large-scale projects through the complex and changing landscape of 24/7 news media. It is underpinned by empirical research that identifies and endeavors to close a considerable gap in current understanding and practice. This gap represents a failure to recognise and respect mediatization – the many powerful influences impacting a policy arena that has drawn the ire of the news media. The result of this failure is ineffective communication that does little to advance the policy piece and, in the worst instances, leads to policy immobilisation or poor policy decision-making. Drawing significantly on Actor–Network Theory, Richardson identifies the influential actors and alliances at play when policy is subjected to media discourse, and he proposes a framework for tracing and managing them. In doing so, he demonstrates that such a framework is not only vital for the successful negotiation of policy and projects in the media, but also to an (r)evolutionary recasting of public, expert and media actors in the development and decision-making process.

BOOK EXCERPT:
This important book translates evidence and examines policy, proposing a plan to save America's schools by rewarding teachers with professional-level salaries distributed wisely. Profit of Education makes it clear that rethinking the teaching profession is the key to repairing America's broken-down education system and securing our nation's future. Accomplishing that, author Dick Startz says, requires lifting teacher pay to professional levels and rewarding teachers for student success, with the goal of improving student learning by the equivalent of one extra year of schooling. Profit of Education takes the reader on a chapter-by-chapter walk through the evidence on pay-oriented, teacher-centric reform of the public school system, showing that such an approach can work. Startz translates the extensive scientific evidence on school reform into easily understood terms, demonstrating the enormous difference teachers make in student outcomes. Proposed levels of teacher salaries are established, and the difficult issue of differential pay is examined in depth, as are many of the practical and political issues involved in measuring teacher success. Last, but hardly least, Startz shows how teacher-centric school reform will pay off for the taxpayer and the economy.

There is hope. God can save your church. In this book, Thom Rainer reveals seven findings of revived churches. Through new research, he figuratively dissects hundreds of churches that were on the path toward death. But they turned around. They revitalized. They did so in the face of facts and naysayers who told them it could not be done. Today, three out of four churches are declining in our nation, and twenty percent of churches are close to death. What are the secrets of the churches who avoided this fate and experienced revival? In Anatomy of a Revived Church, Thom will show you how these churches experienced renewal. He will cover everything from "expanding the scorecard" to "dealing with toxins" to "choosing meaningful membership." When you finish reading this book, you will have the tools to strengthen, restore, and energize your church. You can choose life for your church.
