These books are written to all who are in search for the almighty God whom we do not know or see, but whom we have rather heard about from our fathers and forefathers and read about in our religious textbooks!!! Yet, it is impossible to believe and love God if we do not know him! We can hardly know ourselves!!! And the mystery keeps getting bigger: Who is this God? Is he the same one to all? And if he is, why all the confusion and misunderstandings? Did he really create us for suffering on purpose, and if not, what is the “Origin of it all”?

This is a multi-view book in which representatives of differing viewpoints make a positive statement of their case, followed by responses from the others, and concluding with a rebuttal by the original author. The topic at hand in this book is the identity of Jesus (also known as Christology). What is the meaning of Jesus's identity as "the Son of God"? Charles Lee Irons argues that the title "Son of God" denotes his ontological deity from a Trinitarian perspective. Danny Andre Dixon and Dustin R. Smith challenge this view from two different non-Trinitarian viewpoints. Smith argues that Jesus is the authentically human Son of God, the Davidic Messiah, who did not possess a literal preexistence prior to his virgin birth. Dixon argues that Jesus is God's preexistent Son in the sense that God gave him life or existence at some undefined point prior to creation. The authors engage the topic from the perspective that reverences the authority and inspiration of Scripture as the final arbiter of this debate. The literature of early Judaism is also engaged in order to try to understand the extent to which the New Testament's Christology may have been influenced by or operated within the context of Jewish conceptions of divine secondary beings as agents of God.

In the name of the Lord, The most Merciful and Beneficent. Jesus was a Prophet and one of those reformists who propagated that Allah is the one and only God whom alone men should worship. So do the Quran and the Prophet Mohammed (PBUH) describe Jesus. Therefore it is obligatory on the Muslims to believe it. Christians, who have faith in Jesus and believe him as the God and ‘the son of God’ as well, worship him as much. What exactly is the inference regarding the status of Jesus whom the two great religions of the world believe in? It is indeed our right and duty too, to analyse and discern the truth. It is especially so at such a juncture of the century when Christians are earnestly endeavouring to goad the Muslims to believe that Jesus is undoubtedly the ‘son of God’ by interpreting to their own end the various Quranic verses where Jesus is being eulogized by God. A scrutiny of the Bible and the Quran without prejudice will convince even those with inadequate knowledge of the two great scriptures, that there cannot be a son of God. While there are ample evidences leading to such a decisive conclusion, the Christian brethren who are misled by the clergy, believe in the theory of ‘Son of God’ thereby forgoing the chance to attain salvation in the hereafter. By quoting freely from the Bible itself, I have brought to light the fact that Jesus is not the ‘Son of God’ but on the other hand he was one of the great Prophets of god. The Christian brethren who peruse this book unbiasedly without any like or dislike whatsoever, will certainly discern the truth that Jesus was a saintly Prophet of God. I do therefore hope and pray that they will no more consider him as God or ‘Son of God’ Amen!

Two baffling concepts have always confronted Christianity: the doctrine of the trinity and the subject of Christology. Both subjects deal with the inexplicable mysteries of how God became incarnate in Jesus Christ, and when did Jesus know He was God? The author believes the subject of the trinity is actually simple and easily understood from a scriptural perspective. This book is for anyone who wants to know about the preexistence of Jesus Christ, for believers who might be unsure about their personal salvation, and for all Christians who want the entire message of how and why Jesus is the Son of God. Robert Fuller is an ordained minister having received his B.A. degree in the Biblical Field from Abilene Christian University and a M.Ed. degree from the University of North Texas. Mr. Fuller states: "I was raised a Trinitarian as defined by the Nicene Counsel of 325 A.D., and was taught Chalcedonian Christology; yet, it was not until later in life that I have come to understand the scriptures concerning why and how God the Son emptied Himself, not of divinity, but of equality with Very God to become the Son of God and eventually the man Jesus Christ. Jesus was the Son of God in human form, and fulfilled God's perfect will so that God the Father gave Him the authoritative name of Jesus." Jesus was aware of His divinity at His barmitzvah, when He demonstrated to the temple priest His divine wisdom about the Torah. Catholics have always been right about Mary being the Mother of God. She knew Jesus was God in the flesh and no doubt informed Him early on about His miraculous conception. Jesus' virgin birth was something Mary just couldn't keep to herself! (Luke 1:46-56)

In antiquity, “son of god”—meaning a ruler designated by the gods to carry out their will—was a title used by the Roman emperor Augustus and his successors as a way to reinforce their divinely appointed status. But this title was also used by early Christians to speak about Jesus, borrowing the idiom from Israelite and early Jewish discourses on monarchy. This interdisciplinary volume explores what it means to be God’s son(s) in ancient Jewish and early Christian literature. Through close readings of relevant texts from multiple ancient corpora, including the Hebrew Bible, the New Testament, the Dead Sea Scrolls, Greco-Roman texts and inscriptions, early Christian and Islamic texts, and apocalyptic literature, the chapters in this volume engage a range of issues including messianism, deification, eschatological figures, Jesus, interreligious polemics, and the Roman and Jewish backgrounds of early Christianity and the authors of the Dead Sea Scrolls. The essays in this collection demonstrate that divine sonship is an ideal prism through which to better understand the deep interrelationship of ancient religions and their politics of kingship and divinity. In addition to the editors, the contributors to this volume include Richard Bauckham, Max Botner, George J. Brooke, Jan Joosten, Menahem Kister, Reinhard Kratz, Mateusz Kusio, Michael A. Lyons, Matthew V. Novenson, Michael Peppard, Sarah Whittle, and N. T. Wright.
