It is through a deep reflection that I have been able to frame the title of this book, which is The Theatre of Love, Sex, Marriage and Beyond. In fact, the contents of this book take their roots from the title. This book is designed to cover as much as possible, a substantial number of the various aspects of the subjects I have discussed, as dealt with specifically by the innumerable authors at one time or the other. It is without the slightest doubt that not all or every aspect of the subjects of love, sex, and marriagewritten or propounded by authors, researchers, psychologists, sexologists, and medical scientistscan be found in one book. These different and innumerable ideas, theories, hypothesis, and research findings are as scattered in uncountable books, articles, newsprints, or papers and magazines. I will, in all honesty, admit that what I have attempted to do in this book is only a tip of the iceberg, considering the infinitude of the intellectual input and output of others in the myriad of data on the subject. I have divided this book into four parts: love, sex, marriage, and the beyond. These notwithstanding, I hope this humble rendition, however inadequate, would give readers a general overview of the essentials of these enigmatic subjects of love, sex, marriage, and the beyond.

Vanguard Performance Beyond Left and Right challenges assumptions regarding “radical” and “experimental” performance that have long dominated thinking about the avant-garde. The book brings to light vanguard performances rarely discussed: those that support totalitarian regimes, promote conservative values, or have been effectively snapped up by right-wing regimes the performances intended to oppose. In so doing, the volume explores a central paradox: how innovative performances that challenge oppressive power structures can also be deployed in deliberate, passionate support of oppressive power. Essays by leading international scholars pose engaging questions about the historical avant-garde, vanguard acts, and the complex role of artistic innovation and live performance in global politics. Focusing on performances that work against progressive and democratic ideas (including scripted drama, staged suicide, choral dance, terrorism, rallies, and espionage), the book demonstrates how many compelling performance ideals—unification, exaltation, immersion—are, in themselves, neither moral nor immoral; they are only emotional and aesthetic urges that can be powerfully channeled into a variety of social and political outlets.

This book seeks to revive dialectical materialist interpretations of sexuality, relevant to K-12 settings and society. Issues addressed include: sexuality and the curriculum, theories of the family, critiques of postmodernism, socialist feminism, and activist tactics/strategies for organizing in K-12 settings.

First published in 2001. This volume is based on the author's visit to Japan in Summer 1986 on his findings about some of the questions he was asked whilst there. He was 25 and these questions centred around asking if he was married or had a girlfriend, when in his homeland of the Netherlands he openly identified as gay. This research is an investigation of how gay and lesbian people, women's and men's liberationaists, singles and other people, such as transsexuals, transvestites and hermaphrodites, whose ideas, feelings or lifestyles are at variance with Japanese constructions of marriage and inherently the construction of life, live in Japan.

Bodies beyond Labels explores moments of joy and joyful expressions of self-identity, intimacy, sexuality, affect, friendship, social relationships, and religiosity in imperial Spanish cultures, a period when embodiments of such joy were shadowed by comparatively more constrictive social conventions. Viewed in this manner, joy frames historic references to gender, sexuality, and present-day concepts of queerness through homoeroticism, non-labelled bodies, gender fluidity, and performativity. This collection reveals diverse glimmers of joy through a variety of genres, including plays, poems, novels, autobiographies, biblical narratives, and civil law texts, among others.
