About the Book The Trump Era is a collection of poetry examining the damaging repercussions of President Trump’s 2016 presidential run and subsequent win, as well as exploring the potential repercussions if he’s allowed to re-enter into power in the 2024 election. About the Author Gerald W. King has been working around politicians since the 1970s, working with the late state representative David P. Richarson, Jr., and Mayor W. Wilson Goode. After his work with Mayor Goode, he was appointed to the Office of Community Services and was asked to be a charter member of the Northwest Phila Action Committee. King has since worked as Director of Occupational Services and Programs with the Institute for the Development of African American Youth in Philadelphia, PA

Regardless of how the presidency of Donald J. Trump ultimately concludes, a significant part of its legacy will relate to the First Amendment. The president has publicly attacked the institutional press and individual reporters, calling them the "enemy of the people." He has proposed that flag burners be jailed and de-naturalized, blocked critics from his Twitter page, communicated hateful and derogatory ideas, and defended the speech of white nationalists. More than any other modern president, Trump has openly challenged fundamental First Amendment norms and principles relating to free speech and free press. These challenges have come at a time when the institutional press faces economic and other pressures that negatively affect their functions and legitimacy, political and other forms of polarization are on the rise, and protesters face diminished space and opportunities for exercising free speech rights. The First Amendment in the Trump Era catalogs and analyzes the various First Amendment conflicts that have occurred during the Trump presidency. It places these conflicts in historical context-as part of our current digitized and polarized era but also as part of a broader narrative concerning attacks on free speech and press. We must understand what is familiar in terms of the First Amendment concerns of the present era, but also what is distinctive about these concerns. The Trump Era has once again reminded us of the need for a free and independent press, the need to protect robust and sometimes caustic criticism of public officials, and the importance of protest and dissent to effective self-government.

The surprise election of Donald J. The response of older voters, in upcoming elections, to efforts by the Trump administration and its Republican allies in Congress to draw back on the federal government’s commitment to programs and policies affecting them will shape the direction of aging policy and politics for years to come. This volume examines the evolution of US foreign policy since Donald Trump’s accession to the presidency and the strategic challenges confronting the United States in a changing geopolitical environment. Trump has delivered on his promises to break with past policies and this has, for the most part, revealed a policy of retrenchment that has jeopardized US alliances. The book focuses on the current state and future of transatlantic relations, on Washington’s policy in the Middle East and Africa, on the administration’s use of the economic weapon in international relations, but also on the American response to the return of great power competition in the face of an assertive China and resurgent Russia. The contributions gather the inputs of a transatlantic community of scholars combining academics, think-tank fellows, former policy-makers and administration officials from both sides of the Atlantic.
