“The best mingling of history with historical magic that I have ever seen.”—Gene Wolfe In a snowbound inn high in the Alps, four people meet who will alter fate. A noble Byzantine mercenary . . . A female Florentine physician . . . An ageless Welsh wizard . . . And Sforza, the uncanny duke. Together they will wage an intrigue-filled campaign against the might of Byzantium to secure the English throne for Richard, Duke of Gloucester—and make him Richard III. Available for the first time in nearly two decades, with a new introduction by New York Times-bestselling author Scott Lynch, The Dragon Waiting is a masterpiece of blood and magic. “Had [John M. Ford] taken The Dragon Waiting and written a sequence of five books based in that world, with that power, he would’ve been George R.R. Martin.” —Neil Gaiman At the Publisher's request, this title is being sold without Digital Rights Management Software (DRM) applied.

Meet Oz . . . he's got a talent for trouble but his heart's always in the right place (well, nearly always). Uprooted from his friends and former life, Oz finds himself stranded in the sleepy village of Slowleigh. When a joke backfires on the first day at his new school, Oz attracts the attention of Isobel Skinner, the school psycho - but that's just the beginning. After causing an accident that puts his mum in hospital, Oz isn't exactly popular at home either. His older sister's no help, but then she's got a problem of her own . . . one that's growing bigger by the day. Oz knows he's got to put things right, but life isn't that simple, especially when the only people still talking to you are a hobbit-obsessed kid and a voice in your own head! Packed with action, heart and humour, Waiting for Gonzo takes you for a white-knuckle ride on the Wheel of Destiny as it careers out of control down the Hillside of Inevitability. The question is, do you go down laughing? Or grit your teeth and jump off?

" . . . deliciously crafted." --Coffee Time Romance There's more to his magic than his bedroom eyes. And more to her magic than she ever wanted to learn. And as she spends more time with Torian, her feelings for the mysterious wizard grow. But Torian is hiding secrets from Sara. Deadly secrets. "A sweeping novel of love and loss, city and country, growing old and staying young. Waiting for Zoë is a thoughtful look at the ability of grown men and young women to confront change and absorb life's most challenging moments," writes Mark Stevens, author of Antler Dust: An Allison Coil Mystery. Waiting for Zoë is a genre-bending character driven, mainstream novel that explores a person’s ability to endure in the face of tragedy—and love. James R. Ament says, “It’s a love story, but it’s not a romance. There are underlying religious themes, but it’s not a philosophical book. There’s a little political commentary here and there, but it’s not about politics. It explores some very serious themes, but there are light moments and humor, too.” Set in Wyoming, Colorado, New York City, and Southern California, it makes the reader ask the hard question: who is in charge of creating ourselves? Ament says, “I had this story in mind about a young person who apparently has everything going for her, but then her life falls apart. The question is: Does she get it back? And if so, how?” And from writer Stephen Knapp, Evergreen Newspapers. “The characters are sharply defined and appealing, and the dialogue flows smoothly and moves the narrative along at a comfortable pace. The settings and situations are neither contrived nor trite, and the conflicts are at once challenging and accessible. In short, there’s nothing within Waiting for Zoë that marks its author as a newcomer to the literary stage,”(Reprinted with permission of Evergreen Newspapers).

For ten thousand years the seven wizards of the Wizard Council of Eonor had governed and protected the Elven folk of Eonor. As their time was passing and no apprentice was born to pass on their knowledge, the council put all their knowledge and magic into the “White Book of Magic”. It was established that only a true wizard could read from the book. A true wizard was defined as one who is born when a comet is visible during a total eclipse and can read from the book. Gindon, a member of the council could not accept his demise. He sought to increase his power and extend his life. He wrote the “Black Book of Magic” which, advised him to kill the other wizards and take their power as the only solution to becoming immortal. He killed one of the wizards and with a terrible war looming, the Elven folk and the youngest of the Wizard Council left for new land to call home or “Urot”. Gindon was able to kill another wizard and became more powerful. He gave the “Black Book of Magic” to his daughter, Gelda, and sent her with the others, to the new land. Massive fires and explosions were seen as the ship sailed off to their new home. Gelda knew her father had been killed and sought revenge against the Elven-folk. The ships landed on the shore of Urot, the sight of their first city, Windor. Gelda, seeking revenge for her father’s death, conjured a troll that killed several Elves before being slain. Gelda was accused of practicing Black Magic and was banished to the Black Mountains since Elven do not kill Elven. She swore her revenge and cursed them as she left. Gelda learned the ways of Black Magic and conjured more slave creatures to build her fortress castle. As the Elven folk expanded their realm, they discovered humans living in the prairies, forests, and mountains. They were primitive but saw that they were intelligent and gentle. They taught the humans woodworking, metallurgy, reading, and writing. After a time, humans built their own cities and villages. They kept good relations with the Elven folk, and it was not uncommon for humans and Elves to marry. And so, it was with King Marcus Drakorne who married the Elven Princess Errisa and soon their son Ferryman was born when a comet was visible during a total eclipse. The people of Urot wait patiently for a wizard’s apprentice to be declared as Gelda plots their demise.
