Themelios is an international, evangelical, peer-reviewed theological journal that expounds and defends the historic Christian faith. Themelios is published three times a year online at The Gospel Coalition (http://thegospelcoalition.org/themelios/) and in print by Wipf and Stock. Its primary audience is theological students and pastors, though scholars read it as well. Themelios began in 1975 and was operated by RTSF/UCCF in the UK, and it became a digital journal operated by The Gospel Coalition in 2008. This Festschrift in honour of Richard N. Longenecker (author of Paul, Apostle of Liberty, The Christology of Early Jewish Christianity, The Ministry and Message of Paul, Biblical Exegesis in the Apostolic Period, 'The Acts of the Apostles' in The Expositor's Bible Commentary, New Testament Social Ethics for Today, and Galatians, Word Biblical Commentary) is centered on the theme of 'gospel' in Paul. Notable Pauline scholars discuss 'gospel' from five different perspectives: the historical, the theological, the hermeneutical, the rhetorical and the epistolary; each author discusses one of these five perspectives within one part of Paul's correspondence: (1) Gospel in Romans (2) Gospel in Galatians and (3) Gospel in the Corinthian letters. The volume promotes discussion both on methods of reading Paul's letters and on important historical, theological and hermenutical issues.

This celebration volume is to honor a prominent Pentecostal theologian and educator, Russell P. Spittler. As much of his research has been devoted to the area of Pentecostal spirituality, the essays collected in this volume contain studies in this field. The contributions are divided into three areas of Pentecostal spirituality: theological, historical and missiological. While the Pentecostal movement has tremendously impacted Christianity in the past century and expects to continue its rapid growth, very little scholarly research is available on this important movement. This volume, then, provides an important resource for pastors, seminarians and scholars.

This study challenges the adequacy of the reconstruction of primitive Christianity advanced by Walter Bauer in Orthodoxy and Heresy in Earliest Christianity - the theory that so-called heretical movements were early, widespread, and strong. The author does this by citing the lack of data extensive enough to warrant such conclusions.
