Help for those struggling with perfectionism and guilt in their Christian walk. Many Christians, often without even realizing it, struggle with a type of Christian perfectionism. We strive to please God but are plagued with anxiety about making mistakes. We want to do God’s will but live with a self-berating inner voice even as we seek to serve him. We sincerely believe the gospel and love Jesus but struggle with never feeling good enough before God. How can Christians wholeheartedly pursue God without an undercurrent of guilt, fear, or anxiety? How can imperfect people experience God's peace while seeking to obey his perfect standards? Author Faith Chang addresses the struggles of her fellow "Christian perfectionists" through meditations on God’s character. With nuance and care, she writes for those who seek to grow in Christ and live for God’s glory yet live in fear of failure. In The Battle for the Trinity, Dr. Bloesch tackles the controversial issues surrounding the questions of God-language and their potential as one of the most divisive issues facing the church in the twentieth century. Should God be addressed as Father, Mother or Parent, should Jesus be referred to primarily as the Son of God or the Child of God, did God really reveal himself definitively in the person of his Son Jesus Christ? Bloesch contends that how we speak about God embodies the very core of Christianity and how we ultimately understand the biblical and historical meaning of the Trinity itself. The debates surrounding the Doctrine of God are many, and Bloesch urges the church to respond to the concerns of women that the sacred carries both masculine and feminine dimensions. Bloesch emphasizes that the God of the Bible is not described in masculine terms exclusively, and we err in our failure to recognize it. If Christianity is to remain genuinely ChristianÓ, these controversial issues must be dealt with in such a manner that will preserve the full historical and biblical understanding of the Trinity.

Karl Barth repeatedly spoke of the centrality and unparalleled significance of the resurrection of Jesus Christ for his theological understanding, yet a clear grasp of its nature and scope in Barth continues to find little expression in scholarly literature. This book seeks to draw out the theological substance and systematic implications of Barth's thinking on this theme. Barth's mature understanding of the resurrection concentrates upon the transition from the objective achievement of reconciliation culminating in the crucifixion and death of Jesus Christ to its subjective appropriation in the life of the believer, all within a thoroughly christological context. The resurrection may be described as the way of the crucified Lord to others, and is, for Barth, the essential and efficient link between christology proper and the extension of Christ's saving work to others.

What should the church's cultural witness be? Too often, it has been marked by political strong-arming or fearful withdrawal into the "Christian bubble." There is another way: creative cultural engagement, using our imaginations to plant oases in the desert, breathable spaces that refresh, challenge, and draw together Christians and non-Christians alike. Oases refresh the soul, provoke discussion, challenge assumptions, and lead the imagination to a new place. In Oasis of Imagination, Ted Turnau lays out the Biblical mandate for engaging culture, and why the imaginative path holds promise. He explores the nature of the imagination from both Scripture and nature. He asks, "What makes a Christian imagination that resonates with non-Christians different?" He explores examples of Christian creativity done well from video games to movies to music to The Lord of the Rings. He challenges the church, artist and non-artist alike, to be intentional about their own imaginative lives, how artists and non-artists can support each other, as they together engage in building bridges and being cultural ambassadors to the wider community. In-depth and wide-ranging, Oasis of Imagination equips and encourages Christians, whatever their calling, to consider how to imaginatively enter into the broader cultural conversation, beyond the culture-warring and Christian bubbles. It seeks to provoke a conversation within the church between its artists and non-artists about how best to unleash our God-given creativity to shine light into the broader culture.

Asserts that three preconditions have produced an imbalance and created difficulties in conducting Christian-Jewish dialogue since 1967: that Christians should renounce antisemitism, abstain from proselytizing among Jews, and recognize Israel's right to exist within the boundaries accepted by the UN. Discusses Rosemary Ruether's thesis that Christian anti-Judaism implies the concept of antisemitism, arguing that the intention to eradicate the roots of antisemitism from the New Testament could shake the foundations of Christian teaching and produce a relativization of Christianity. States that some passages of the New Testament are anti-Judaic only with respect to Jesus' contemporaries, and are not inherently anti-Jewish. Ch. 8 (pp. 293-305) discusses the Holocaust from a Christian theological perspective, considering it "absolutely inhuman, anti-biblical and anti-Christian". Concludes that all forms of antisemitism (including the Holocaust) are a rejection of the biblical concept of God, of man, and of Judeo-Christian ethics.
