BOOK EXCERPT:
Many people don't like to watch movies or have time to do so. That's okay. This book is not about watching movies. It's about looking at how you live your life and what you want for your future. Movies are just stories about life so even if you don't watch them, you can still learn from them here. Some of life's most important lessons are learned through stories. What better way to hear these stories than on the big screen? Movies draw us in and touch our lives in ways we never imagined. The best part is that our supply is limitless. Here we have stories for all ages. As we watch the characters on the screen, we see ourselves; our need for love and understanding, hope for the future, or wish for revenge against someone who wronged us. We see how the characters on the screen deal with these emotions, but as Christians, how should we deal with ours? In this study, movies from different times and different genres offer us an opportunity to delve into the Bible and see the choices our heavenly Father wants us to make under similar circumstances. Each lesson will review one or more aspects of the movie and provide an opportunity for reflection or discussion. Bible passages are also referenced to enhance understanding. Now that we have this information, what do we do with it? Odds are that people around you every day are looking for this information as well. What a comfortable way to share your faith with your friends, co-workers, or neighbors while you discuss the latest flick. These Bible studies can be taught to a group of people or they can be done individually. Popcorn is optional.

Living Bold as a Christ-like Man "Recovering nice guy" Paul Coughlin points the way for al men who yearn to live a life of boldness and conviction--like Jesus. Using humorous examples from his own life, powerful and poignant stories, and vivid examples from contemporary culture, Coughlin shows how he learned to say no to the "nice guy" syndrome. After all, Christian nice guys aren't always so nice. In the name of appearing Christian by being agreeable, they can lie, keep secrets, manipulate, duck responsibility, and much more. Using the biblical model of Christ as his example of a real man, Coughlin shows men how to become both gentle and bold. A powerful challenge and a hopeful message that elevates the true biblical model of manhood above prevailing views in the church and contemporary culture, this important book helps men discover who they are in Christ and how to live for Him.

BOOK EXCERPT:
Christians love superhero movies, just like everybody else. But should they? How do the themes in the world’s most popular movies relate to Christ’s teachings? How do believers reconcile superhero violence with Jesus’s message of peace? How does the Sermon on the Mount relate to superhero power fantasies? The Superpowers and the Glory helps readers answer those questions by teaching them how to identify the themes in superhero movies and examine them through Christian theology. With deep dives into nearly every superhero movie ever released, the book trains readers in understanding the worldviews behind movies such as Iron Man, Spider-Man, and Wonder Woman. Each chapter includes discussion questions, perfect for small groups, Sunday school classes, or personal inquiry. From Marvel hits like Black Panther and The Avengers to DC blockbusters Batman and Justice League to indie characters Hellboy and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, The Superpowers and the Glory is an easy-to-read guide to using superhero movies to strengthen your relationship with Christ.
