BOOK EXCERPT:
This compilation provides guidelines that facilitate the successful planning and operation of water reuse projects. Offering the information, analysis and proven experience for agricultural and landscape irrigation, it bridges the gap between fundamental science and relatively uncharted areas of economic, institutional and liability issues. It delivers a synthesis of information recently emerging in both science and in the practice of irrigation with reclaimed water. The book compiles guidelines, recommendations and codes of best practices from around the world for all types of recycled water uses, and it examines recent concerns about adverse effects on plants, groundwater and public health.

BOOK EXCERPT:
Wastewater Reuse for Golf Course Irrigation, authored by leading researchers and practitioners, covers a wide range of technical and regulatory aspects of how and why to irrigate golf courses with reused wastewater. Water quality, water conservation, regulations, water rights, water delivery, design of systems, monitoring concerns, retrofitting a course for recycled water, and successful case studies are just some of the important topics covered in this informative, valuable book. California, Arizona, and Florida are a few of the states that have laws mandating the uses of reused wastewater. This book will help golf course superintendents, irrigation consultants, architects, and builders understand how it affects their job and what to do about it.

BOOK EXCERPT:
The focus of Water-Energy Interactions in Water Reuse is to collect original contributions and some relevant publications from recent conference proceedings in order to provide state-of-art information on the use of energy in wastewater treatment and reuse systems. Special focus is given to innovative technologies, such as membrane bioreactors, high pressure membrane filtration systems, and novel water reuse processes. A comparison of energy consumption in water reuse systems and desalination will be also provided. Water-Energy Interactions in Water Reuse covers the use of energy in conventional and advanced wastewater treatment for various water reuse applications, including carbon footprint, energy efficiency, energy self-sufficient facilities and novel technologies, such as microbial fuel cells and biogas valorisation. It is of real value to water utility managers; policy makers for water and wastewater treatment; water resources planners, and researchers and students in environmental engineering and science. Editors: Valentina Lazarova, Suez Environnement, France, Kwang-Ho Choo, Kyungpook National University, Korea, Peter Cornel, Technical University of Darmstadt, Germany

BOOK EXCERPT:
Total supply of fresh water on earth far exceeds human demand. However, scarcity of water currently faced in many regions of the world is caused by two reasons. First, its availability in time and space is not equally distributed. Thus there is problem of water in the wrong place, or at the wrong time and in wrong quantities. Second, while the population growth and expanded industrial activities are increasing demands on available water resources, they also jeopardize the availability of freshwater in adequate quantities by discharge of pollutants into freshwater sources. It is at times like these, when the rising curve of water demand intersects the fluctuating curve of water availability, recycle and reuse of wastewater is seriously considered. Wastewater recycling, reuse and reclamation have been, now, accepted as appropriate ways to conserve water resources as well as to contain polluted waters from contaminating other available clean water sources. This book gives a comprehensive review on water quantity and quality, simple water supply and sanitation systems, and leads to domestic, agricultural and industrial water reuse. Thus, it will provide useful information not only to technologists but also for planners, managers, and NGOs involved in the water sector. The contribution to the book comes from a broad pool of experts, working on technology, policy, health, and economy aspects of water management. Involvement of both academics and industry personnel from developing and developed countries makes this contribution broader and useable for a wide readership.

BOOK EXCERPT:
Uneven distribution and depletion of good-quality water reserves significantly devastate the agriculture sector. In this scenario, water management as well as efficient irrigation and drainage strategies are primarily required to conserve water resources and enhance farm efficiency. Irrigation and Drainage – Recent Advances provides insights into irrigation methods, scheduling possibilities, and optimal irrigation frequencies. It also discusses management strategies including methods of groundwater recharging and rainwater harvesting, restoration, and modification of drainage networks for manifesting the cropping index. The book presents key aspects and examines the role of Agrovoltaic energy, artificial intelligence, and the Internet of Things (IoT) in the development of smart irrigation systems for sustainable farming.
