Why Do People Choose To Suffer

eBook Download

BOOK EXCERPT:

It is interesting to note some people choose to suffer rather than change their lifestyle for the better. Although, there are some people who have an organic problem from birth, and these people have to live with this disorder with proper medication for the rest of their life. For example, a person with a chemical imbalance disorder, which is a legitimate disorder, and they can function in life as long as they are willing to take their medication. Then there are those that, for one reason or another, do not have a legitimate disorder. However, they project that they have so they can get the attention of others. This kind of person is what we call a manipulator, selfish, lazy, and obsessive-compulsive, needy individual. Sometimes they have been diagnosed as having borderline personality disorder. This is to name a few disorders that I will be addressing in this complex text. Fasten your seatbelts. This ride may be a little bumpy and rocky at times. However, the trip will be informative.

Suffering Why All This Suffering What Do I Do About It

eBook Download

BOOK EXCERPT:

Fairacres Publications 150 No-one has ever found a satisfactory answer to the question of suffering. Dr Korner has no slick answers, but wrestles honestly with the theological issues – not just from a theoretical point of view, but from personal experience of grave illness. Protesting against any notion of a God who keeps a score of rights and wrongs and who has to be appeased and ‘bought off’ through sacrifice and suffering, he preaches the God of unconditional love whom Jesus proclaimed and addressed as Abba, ‘dear Father’. The reader is pointed to Jesus, as a pattern and example for suffering humanity. This book is a translation by Sister Avis Mary SLG.

Why Do Good People Suffer Bad Things

eBook Download

BOOK EXCERPT:

You are not alone if you struggle to understand why unwanted, unexplainable, and inconceivable bad things happen to innocent people! Never before have there been so many questions like: How could a loving God permit good people to suffer bad things and often make it appear as though the guilty are rewarded or go scot free? Why are there so many things in the world that seem unfair or unjust? Why does God seemingly hide his face from much of the horrific evil, pain and destruction? Does God really care? Is it fair for humans to be angry with God about their misfortune or suffering? Why are there so many good people accused falsely for their suffering? What defence mechanisms can I put in place to minimize evil, suffering, pain, misfortune, and the devil’s influence in my own life? What purpose does suffering, and pain serve in human life? These are some of the most thought-provoking, spiritually intuitive, deeply agitating, and most frequent questions asked by countless individuals, especially by those who believe that there is a God.

The Upside Down Way

eBook Download

BOOK EXCERPT:

Jesus' life should turn our world upside-down. His first observers, according to Luke, were routinely seized with amazement, both at the bending of physics--making the blind see and lame walk--and at the ridiculous things he did and taught. A careful look at the Jesus of the Gospels sketches a man completely out of touch with conventional thinking; a man radically devoted to living a shocking life for the sake of the broken and forgotten. In popular depictions of Jesus today he seems to be more concerned with upholding a conventional way of life than with overturning our understanding of ourselves. Jesus' life story should lead more to humble servanthood than to syncopated light shows in church or the triumph of a political candidate or a well-ordered and respectable lifestyle. The Upside Down Way is a series of devotionals drawn from the text of Luke. Each devotional is an invitation to a fresh look at the outrageous words and actions of Jesus. Author and pastor Matthew Ingalls combines rigorous historical study with a voice that is unflinchingly bold, reflective, honest, and challenging, in order to elevate Luke's ridiculous Jesus to his rightful position as the fountain of Christian faith.
