BOOK EXCERPT:

Bertrand William Sinclair was a Canadian novelist known for a series of westerns set in the United States, and also for a series of novels set in his home province of British Columbia. He had disapproved of previous westerns as he felt the action portrayed was far different that the lives cowboys actually led. When he moved to Vancouver, the settings of his works changed. He tended to write about social causes, and worked in the timber industry prior to writing Big Timber. Later, before writing about the fishing industry, he worked as a commercial fisherman. He was also formerly married to author Bertha M. Brown, better known under her pen name, B. M. Bower. Contents: Raw Gold The Land of Frozen Suns North of Fifty-Three Troubled Waters Big Timber Burned Bridges Poor Man's Rock The Hidden Places

BOOK EXCERPT:

Bertrand William Sinclair's 'When the War Ends Book Set' is a collection of poignant stories that immerse readers in the aftermath of war, exploring themes of loss, resilience, and hope. Sinclair's evocative literary style captures the emotional complexities of the characters as they navigate life post-conflict, resonating with readers on a deeply human level. Set against the backdrop of historical wartime events, the stories offer a unique insight into the lasting impact of war on individuals and communities. As a veteran himself, Sinclair draws on his own experiences and observations to craft these powerful narratives that provide a compassionate portrayal of the challenges faced by those returning from war. His insights into the human psyche and the effects of trauma add depth and authenticity to the stories, making them both compelling and thought-provoking. I highly recommend 'When the War Ends Book Set' to readers interested in exploring the psychological and emotional aftermath of war, as well as those drawn to character-driven, introspective fiction. Sinclair's masterful storytelling and profound understanding of human nature make this collection a must-read for anyone looking for a moving and insightful literary experience.

BOOK EXCERPT:

Rustlers had long been stealing from Montana cattle outfits when Robin Tyler, rep for the Bar M during the Block S roundup, saw Mark Steele, the Block S ramrod, hazing cows into a hidden canyon, and learned that Steele was the secret owner of the T Bar S iron, whose cows showed a miraculous increase each year. Trying to catch Steele red-handed, Robin tipped his hand. And Steele, a gunman, trapped Robin, who had never owned a gun, in a line cabin and decided to kill him. Robin pulled through that ruckus and went on the dodge. But he came back - this time with a smoking Colt - to start a wholesale cleanup on the Montana rangeland!
