The Justiss Alliance returns in Tina Wainscott’s series of outlaws and daredevils, as the search for a missing woman forces two brave souls to tap into their wild side. When Mollie Reagan's sister, Diana, rides off into the sunset with a member of the Kings of Chaos motorcycle gang, she is beyond worried. Two weeks later, a desperate call from Di is abruptly cut off, launching Mollie on a dangerous search. Before Julian Cuevas receives his first assignment for the Justiss Alliance, he finds one of his own: a beautiful, courageous woman looking for her sister in the dark world of violent criminals. Soon Mollie’s mission is Julian’s mission—one he’d give his life for. Mollie is used to going it alone. Trusting one stranger is hard enough, but Julian brings a whole team from the private “security” firm he works for. The sexy SEAL is living proof that some people can be counted on, even if her savior is a well-armed world-class sniper riding in on his Harley. From head to toe, Julian is a lethal weapon—and now he’s taking aim at fulfilling Mollie’s every desire.

From bestselling author Tanya Huff, the second in a trilogy about the formidable Gale family, whose power to charm goes far beyond magic. Charlotte Gale has always been unconventional. She can follow a song to slip from one place to another in a moment, and unlike her homebody cousins and order-consumed aunties, she’s at ease wherever she rests her guitar case. She has a good life in Calgary, eating home cooking, playing country music, and giving misfit lessons to her fierce little cousin. But when her wild auntie prods her toward a Celtic music festival on the other side of the continent, Charlie’s more than ready to go—even though trouble will surely follow. The rocky coasts of Nova Scotia have attracted more than just ceilidh lovers. Someone is stealing sealskins from the area’s selkies, demanding they support an oil well scheduled to drill next to a seal rockery. Vile tricks and chaotic magic await around every corner, and the people who should be her allies are the most confusing of all. All Charlie can do is chase down answers wherever they lead. Because some challenges are meant only for the wild...

Only an apology for having written this historical tale. My private opinion is, that all writers of historical tales should return me thanks if I apologize for them with myself, all in a body, the truer the tale the ampler being the spirit of the apology. While I have been writing this tale, sometimes in its most important or serious portions, I have been startled by detecting my own mouth widening with an absurd smile, or by hearing a ridiculous chuckle issuing from my own lips, and have suddenly discovered that I was quite unconsciously repeating to myself the famous old Scotch anecdote of the old woman and the Scotch preacher—"That's good, and that's Robertson; and that's good, and that's Chalmers; ... and that's bad, and that's himsel'." Turning the old woman into the more learned among my possible readers, and the Scotch preacher into myself, I read the anecdote—"That's good, and that's Prescott; that's good, and that's Robertson; that's good, and that's guide-book; that's good, and that's Arthur Helps; and that's bad, and that's hersel'." I can only wind up my apology by pleading, that at least my badness has not gone the length of distorting a single fact, nor of giving to this wonderful page of history any touch of false colouring.

Conservation Biology for All provides cutting-edge but basic conservation science to a global readership. A series of authoritative chapters have been written by the top names in conservation biology with the principal aim of disseminating cutting-edge conservation knowledge as widely as possible. Important topics such as balancing conversion and human needs, climate change, conservation planning, designing and analyzing conservation research, ecosystem services, endangered species management, extinctions, fire, habitat loss, and invasive species are covered. Numerous textboxes describing additional relevant material or case studies are also included. The global biodiversity crisis is now unstoppable; what can be saved in the developing world will require an educated constituency in both the developing and developed world. Habitat loss is particularly acute in developing countries, which is of special concern because it tends to be these locations where the greatest species diversity and richest centres of endemism are to be found. Sadly, developing world conservation scientists have found it difficult to access an authoritative textbook, which is particularly ironic since it is these countries where the potential benefits of knowledge application are greatest. There is now an urgent need to educate the next generation of scientists in developing countries, so that they are in a better position to protect their natural resources.
