BOOK EXCERPT:
This book is about women and their positions in businesses in the early twenty-first century. It is a study about how womens thoughts and behaviours, the society, organisations and necessity affects their work, lives and careers. The research conducted has investigated the gradual increase of women as business leaders and the factors that encourage this rise. This was done mainly through primary research using questionnaires and interviews. The research findings are divided into personal characteristics of women, societal characteristics that help create them and organisational characteristics that sustain and promote women in work and leadership. Through determining the causes that encourage certain women to pursue leadership positions in businesses, this research has outlined some ways how more women can aspire to take on leading roles. The qualitative research also generated ideas such as help to women when career breaks become necessary for family reasons and the help available on returning back to work. The findings show that more work needs to be done on understanding the value of contribution that women can bring to businesses, in this modern age. The Creativity section highlights the use of our minds and our imagination when we need answers to problems, help from the forces of this universe and divine guidance.

BOOK EXCERPT:
When it comes to creativity, women are impresarios. Women Create! explores women's uniquely capricious, brilliant, and innate process of constructing and exhibiting creativity. Hilda Ruch identifies four characteristics of creative expression: Creativity is a universal and critical aspect of human nature. Everyone has creative potential. Creativity is an animating source of energy that is enhanced through awareness and use. Creative expression is personal to the individual and takes on various forms. Gender differences in physiology and social-cultural experiences affect creative expression. These differences enrich and strengthen the human community. Women Create! is a playful, straightforward, thought-provoking, user-friendly read. It crackles with the ideas and actions of inspired women while suggesting open-ended pathways for nurturing creative life. Ruch presents an ingenious celebration of the true originators of creativity . . . women!

BOOK EXCERPT:
Producing Women examines the ways femininity is produced through new media. Michele White considers how women are constructed, produce themselves as subjects, form vital production cultures on sites like Etsy, and deploy technological processes to reshape their identities and digital characteristics. She studies the means through which women market traditional female roles, are viewed, and produce and restructure their gendered, raced, eroticized, and sexual identities. Incorporating a range of examples across numerous forms of media—including trash the dress wedding photography, Internet how-to instructions about zombie walk brides, nail polish blogging, DIY crafting, and reborn doll production—Producing Women elucidates women’s production cultures online, and the ways that individuals can critically study and engage with these practices.
