Mapping Digital Skills In Cultural And Creative Industries In Italy

eBook Download

BOOK EXCERPT:

Digital transformation has profoundly affected organizations and value chains in cultural production at the global level. The volume focuses on this change by looking at the knowledge, skills, and competencies (KSC) of the labor force in the cultural and creative industries (CCI) in Italy. The contribution of the research is twofold. On the one hand, the book offers a detailed map of the KSC of creative and cultural professions and workers, on the other hand, it identifies relevant gaps between supply and demand across different cultural sub-sectors and typologies of workers. The study adopts an original methodology that implements a Natural Language Processing (NLP) approach to the analysis of education, experiences, and accomplishments contained in CVs. The result of the mapping exercise based on the algorithm shows how managerial and digital skills are increasingly crucial in the CCI in combination with creative skills. The Italian labor market in these industries seems characterized not only by a growing symbiosis between creative, digital, and managerial KSC but also by a convergence of CCI sub-sectors, whose boundaries get increasingly blurred and permeable. Finally, comparing the supply and demand of KSC, the book provides managers, practitioners, policymakers, and educational institutions with a comprehensive overview of the new KSC needed in CCI.

Digital Transformation And Cultural Policies In Europe

eBook Download

BOOK EXCERPT:

What happens when cultural policy turns digital? Digital Transformation and Cultural Policies in Europe analyzes and compares different digital cultural policies of Europe. Through case studies of seven European countries (UK, Germany, Croatia, Sweden, Spain, Norway, and Switzerland) as well as the analysis of EU digital cultural policy, the book investigates what happens when cultural policy gets changed and challenged by digital culture. Based on a thorough discussion of key concepts and analytical perspectives, this collection also offers a unique multi-disciplinary contribution that shows how digital cultural policy is hyperconvergent. These policies contain established ideas of cultural policy - such as democratization, welfare, access, and national, protectionist ideas - brought together within a digital framework, while also adding new cultural policy tools and instruments, such as digital standards, international regulations, directives, etc. The book shows how digital cultural policies are works in progress, struggling to align their aspirations with their effectiveness. Overall, this book provides a valuable tool for understanding the current policy framework of digital culture. It will be of interest not only to scholars and students in cultural and creative industries but also to creative professionals and policy makers. The 7th Bandung Creative Movement conference presented the theme "Dynamics of Industrial Revolution 4.0" which discussed how the digital world and connectivity changed human culture in various aspects of life, and transformed in accordance to human needs and social culture. Digital technology has transformed society to serve people from manufacturing needs to smart cities, from network connectivity to people connectivity. The application of information technology has helped in improving live quality and environmental sustainability. Digital transformation is revolutionizing how businesses and workers interconnect to be more productive and efficient. The result is improved collaboration, faster processes and time-to-market, lower costs and better products. Devices are getting smarter, meaning they are able to perform more and more tasks without human intervention; moreover, these devices generate data that provide insights to further improve processes and gain greater efficiencies. Moreover, with the Internet of Things (IoT), all these smart devices are interconnected in ways that not only help make them even smarter, but also enhances the intelligence of the overall system.
