Have you ever wondered what it's like to see through the eyes of a detached and hostile high school student? This novel helps illuminate the emotional journey that breaks the soul of even the most loving of individuals, and shows the progressive downward spiral that causes students to commit egregious acts. The answer to stopping school violence lies in understanding the problems, not taking measures to prevent the onslaught of weapons.

Warning! 'But whoso shall offend one of these little ones which believe in me, it were better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and that he were drowned in the depth of the sea.' Matthew 8:6 (KJV) Take heed, all of you unbelieving miscreants in the public school system bent on programming kids for the deceitful New World Order. That warning is from the King of kings! School Daze is written with a satirical bite and is tempered with comic relief. Its author, Lucia Jones, a teacher in the public school system, gives an up-close and personal look at the biggest issues plaguing the System today. Among these issues are school zoning that forces students to move schools (and sometimes neighborhoods) often, a lax teaching curriculum, incompetent school officials, sex education (starting in kindergarten), ditching the basics and the 3 Rs for cuddly, feely programs loaded with political correctness and the two faces of multiculturalism. Christian values no longer play a role in public schools. Some public schools have taken God out of the Pledge of Allegiance and have even gone so far as pledging allegiance to the Earth. Prayer is not allowed, and the Ten Commandments are no longer displayed. Christmas parties are now winter holiday parties. Even the treats for these parties are at the mercy of the System—no more candy and ice cream, but tofu smoothies and yogurt cups. Lucia Jones is a devout Christian, mother of four, grandmother of eleven, and a veteran elementary school teacher in the public school system of twenty-five-plus years. She has spent eighteen of those years teaching at a small public elementary school on an Indian reservation. Lucia lives in Northern Nevada with her husband, Tom.

This book is a compilation of true events which occured in the author's childhood, teenage years...and beyond. It tells of community life in a British Colony, the discipline and respect for authority, spiritual lessons taught, the happy times enjoyed by all before the advent of television and video games, doing chores, truancy and skirmishes which makes one aware that "there is nothing new under the sun." A brief history of the area known as Linden which was settled by the Scottish in the late 1700's, the first of whom was R.F.Allicock, the ancestor of most of my schoolmates, is also included. The book concludes with a history of the author's family, both maternal and paternal branches. Special emphasis is placed on the role played by the author's mother in binding and keeping the family together through trying times, her demise as a result of a politically engineered terrorist attack in 1964, and the rewards of her labours which followed her.

From his birth in 1924 in Bainbridge, Georgia, in a small African-American hospital, author William I. Jones Sr. spent the first nineteen years of his life trying to survive and dream the impossible-which was the American dream. Coming of age in a time of dramatic social change in the United States, he presents not only biographical and autobiographical details and facts about his family, but he also provides heartfelt and sincere commentary on society and politics, race, family issues, war and military service, and education and science. Covering nine decades, From Poverty through Protest, to Progress and Prosperity tells how Jones traveled and witnessed many changes not only in the United States, but also in other parts of the world. He tells his story as a contribution to African-American history.
