While teaching at Fuller School of World Mission, Tippett inspired and challenged the founding generation of "great commission" or "church growth" missiologists. While much work has been done to apply anthropological insights to the study of missions, the sociological perspective has been generally neglected by missiologists. David Bosch (1929-1992) was one of the foremost mission theologians of the twentieth century; a prolific scholar, committed church leader and active participant in the global conciliar and evangelical mission movements.
