Research over nearly thirty years indicates that the vast majority of Americans bearing the subject family name, in any one of the more than twenty identified spellings, are descended either from one of these original immigrants, or from Johann Heinrick N

Daniel Hurley (ca. 1658-1706) immigrated to America in 1676 and served as at bond servant for four years in Virginia. He died in Prince Georges County, Maryland. His son, Daniel Hurley (1701-1793) was the father of five known sons, a. 1727-ca. 1739. Descendants listed lived in Maryland, Delaware, North Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia and elsewhere.

J. Andrew Schechter was born in Germany in 1717. He married Anna Catharina Maria Rudi and they were the parents of eleven children. They came to America about 1853 and settled in Maryland. Information on their descendants, his German ancestry back to 1580, is given in this volume. Descendants live in Kansas, California, Illinois, Pennsylvania, and elsewhere.

Both of the families noted in the title came from England early and they and their descendants mostly stayed in the East. These two families are not known relatives nor are some others in the work.
