This atlas explores the latest advances in radionuclide imaging in the field of inflammatory diseases and infections, which now typically includes multimodality fusion imaging (e.g. in SPECT/CT and in PET/CT). In addition to describing the pathophysiologic and molecular mechanisms on which the radionuclide imaging of infection/inflammation is based, the clinical relevance and impact of such procedures are demonstrated in a collection of richly illustrated teaching cases, which describe the most commonly observed scintigraphic patterns, as well as anatomic variants and technical pitfalls. Special emphasis is placed on using tomographic multimodality imaging to increase both the sensitivity and specificity of radionuclide imaging. The aim of the second edition of this book is to update the first (published in 2013) by reflecting the changes in this rapidly evolving field. Particular attention is paid to the latest advances in the radionuclide imaging of infection and inflammation, including the expanding role of hybrid imaging with [18F]FDG PET/CT SPECT/CT, without neglecting new radiotracers proposed for the imaging of infection/inflammation. Written by respected experts in the field, the book will be an invaluable tool for residents in nuclear medicine, as well as for other specialists.

Bringing together conventional contrast media studies, computed tomography, ultrasound, magnetic resonance imaging, radionuclide imaging including hybrid imaging using SPECT-CT and PET-CT, DXA studies and digital interventional procedures into one volume, this definitive book is the essential source of information on the use and application of these imaging modalities in radiography. Taking a systemic anatomical approach, carefully designed to be clear and consistent throughout and mirroring that in the popular and established textbook Clark’s Positioning in Radiography, each chapter is highly illustrated and contains sections detailing anatomy, pathologic considerations, procedure methodology, and an evaluation of recommended imaging modalities. Reflecting the latest clinical imaging pathways and referral guidelines including IR(ME)R 2017, the Map of Medicine and RCR iRefer (8E), Clark’s Diagnostic Imaging Procedures will quickly become established as the standard textbook for students of radiography and radiographer assistant trainees and an invaluable desk reference for practising radiologists.

Thoroughly revised by a well-known nuclear medicine team, this teaching file reference presents 234 cases and over 600 images encompassing the gamut of procedures in contemporary clinical nuclear medicine. This Second Edition features many new cases highlighting the latest clinical and technological developments, including state-of-the-art PET/CT and SPECT/CT imaging in oncology and dramatic advances in nuclear cardiology. Chapters present a variety of cases, from simple to complex, covering each organ system and oncologic imaging. Extensive correlative images using all relevant modalities demonstrate the use of multimodality image analysis in solving clinical problems. The final chapter focuses on common artifacts. A companion Website will offer an online image bank.

It is the purpose and business of the pharmaceutical industry to dis cover, develop, and make available drugs for the care of the sick. The purpose of universities and national laboratories is to provide people and scientific knowledge that can help in the process. This book presents the combined efforts of scientists from the drug in dustry, academic laboratories and national laboratories to describe advances in radiotracer technology in studies on experimental ani mals and living human beings. The authors believe that the technol ogy is now ready for widespread application in the pharmaceutical industry. The goal of this book is to help bring this about. The field of Nuclear Medicine is based on the concept that, if treatment of disease is chemical, the patient's diagnosis should be chemical. Anatomy and histopathology have been the principle ba sis for making a diagnosis. Histopathologic data suffer from being descriptive, subjective, not quantifiable, and based on the study of dead tissue. The era of histopathology as the dominant concept in medical practice is coming to an end. Histopathologic findings are often heterogeneous and a single biopsy will at times not reveal the true nature of the disease, such as the grading of malignancy. Far greater accuracy of staging of disease and in the planning of treat ment is possible through chemistry, as well as by making possible a more suitable selection of a histological biopsy site.

Since 1945, radiologists have turned to Caffey's Pediatric Diagnostic Imaging for the most comprehensive coverage and unparalleled guidance in all areas of pediatric radiology. Continuing this tradition of excellence, the completely revised 12th edition - now more concise yet still complete - focuses on the core issues you need to understand new protocols and sequences, and know what techniques are most appropriate for given clinical situations. "This text will obviously be of great interest not only to radiologists, also to those who work with children including all pediatric specialties. It is also extremely useful in countries with resource poor setting where there is shortage of well-trained radiologists in pediatric specialties." Reviewed by: Yangon Children Hospital on behalf of the Journal of the European Paediatric Neurology Society, January 2014 "This is a thoroughly up-to-date text, divided into manageable topics, at a very reasonable price and I thoroughly recommend it to anyone who needs updating in the field of paediatrics or paediatric imaging." RAD, February 2014 Determine the best modality for each patient with state-of-the art discussions of the latest pediatric imaging techniques. Quickly grasp the fundamentals you need to know through a more precise, streamlined format, reorganized by systems and disease processes, as well as "Teaching Boxes" that highlight key points in each chapter. Apply all the latest pediatric advances in clinical fetal neonatology techniques, technology, and pharmacology. Achieve accurate diagnoses as safely as possible. Increased coverage of MRI findings and newer imaging techniques for all organ systems emphasizes imaging examination appropriateness and safety. Reap the fullest benefit from the latest neuroimaging techniques including diffusion tensor imaging, fMRI, and susceptibility weighted imaging. Keep current with the latest pediatric radiological knowledge and evidence-based practices. Comprehensive updates throughout include new and revised chapters on prenatal imaging; newer anatomic and functional imaging techniques (including advances in cardiac imaging); disease classifications and insights into imaging disease processes; and advanced imaging topics in neurological, thoracoabdominal, and musculoskeletal imaging. Compare your findings to more than 10,000 high-quality radiology images. Access the full text online at Expert Consult including illustrations, videos, and bonus online-only pediatric imaging content.
