Salvation Accomplished By The Son

BOOK EXCERPT:

In this unique and insightful work, Robert Peterson insists that we look afresh at all that the Bible teaches about who our Savior is and what he has accomplished, with the conviction that a careful examination of this teaching will lead us to adoration and worship. Peterson explains the saving work of Christ, both his deeds and the biblical pictures illustrating them, and thereby points to the magnitude of what Jesus did to save sinners. Offered here is a substantive, significant, and enduring treatise on a key Christian doctrine—the work of Christ.

Law Liberty A Biblical Look At Legalism

eBook Download

BOOK EXCERPT:

The authors in this compilation address the issue of legalism from a variety of angles. John MacArthur shows, first that obedience to God is not an issue of legalism, but an issue of love. In his second chapter, he deals with the inevitable response of people who are confronted with Biblical standards, "Judge not that ye be not judged." Here MacArthur shows what our Lord meant when He said that, and shows what biblical discernment really is, that there is a vast difference between judgmental and holding people accountable to God's standards. Phil Johnson, in his first chapter, deals with Christian liberty. In his second chapter, he takes a critical look at two kinds of legalism, then explores the relationship of Christian love and Christian liberty. Joel Beeke shows that enthusiasm for God's law is not necessarily legalism. One can be zealous without being legalistic. As David wrote: "Oh, how I love Thy Law!" Bruce Bickel explains that legalism is due to a weak understanding of what Christ accomplished on the cross. Jim Elliff makes clear that legalism is an attack on unity within the Body of Christ, particularly local congregations. Ken Talbot helps us to see that legalism is inconsistent with and incompatible with the doctrine of justification by faith alone. He points out that the doctrine of "free will" leads to this dangerous position. Rick Phillips explores the relationship to loving God and obeying His law. Some today believe that love is all that matters, and that the law as a guideline to love is extinct. Then this author shows that Biblical sanctification is the antidote to and the opposite of legalism. Steven J. Lawson shows that legalism is the result of holding to man-made traditions over the truth of God's Word. Second, he points out how dangerous and deadly a thing legalism is and why. The Hope Of Salvation

eBook Download

BOOK EXCERPT:

Today, many churches teach that once a person believes and trusts in Jesus Christ, their Salvation is assured. They can know with certainty that they will go to heaven.no matter what. The churches further teach that the individual has no part to play in their salvation. God does it all. These teachings are not Biblical. The Bible teaches that no person can know their ultimate destiny. The best one can do is to live a life of demonstrated faith and hope they will make it to heaven. Indeed, a person does have a part to play in their destiny, and by their choices they can stay on the pathway that leads to salvation or they can depart from it. This book clarifies the Biblical path to Salvation, articulates a Biblical argument that refutes the 'assurance of salvation' doctrine and reveals the spiritual dangers that are produced by this teaching. Harding Hedgpeth is a professional test pilot and the holder of 9 aviation world records set in the B-1 Bomber. He has no formal theological training. He does not belong to any formal church. As he characterizes himself, he is a disciple of Jesus Christ, cleverly disguised as a test pilot. Harding was raised as a Presbyterian, married a Catholic and didn't realize that the Bible was God's truth until 1987 when he was 40 years old. He has immersed himself in the study of God's Word ever since. The study of God's Word led him to realize that today's churches are leading their parishioners astray in some important areas. One of those areas is the doctrine of 'the assurance of salvation.' Accordingly, Harding felt a strong compulsion to write this book. Though a relatively short book, it has taken four years to research and one year to write.
